Well I got one reply there from another forum member who seems confident that I will eventually receive a response from the developers.

After conversion to MP4 or MKV, the clips open OK, and quite fast, but that's not something I'd want to do routinely. So why the issue with the Canon MTS files?

3. What disappoints me is that in order to join the produced 'fragments' you have to go into a separate tool (Join Manager) and load the fragments again. Surely it would be possible to give the option to cut/excise and re-join in one operation from the Control Panel (timeline)?

If you could sort that, and the issue with loading Canon MTS files, I might be interested in using your product for preliminary trimming.

Cheers.
Hi WorBry,
Thank you for the detailed feedback. Could you upload us a sample of problem file?

I've responded to your colleague Olga on the SMM support forum. She asked me to try a beta version of Video Splitter first, which appears to have resolved the issue - the native MTS clips from my Canon HF-G10, as well as the sample clips I had from HF-G30 and HF-S20 camcorders, all now load.

Thanks.

Yes, that's good, but the issues I'm now seeing when it comes to trimming these files are not:

http://www.solveigmm.com/forum/index.php?topic=4843.0

No response from SolveigMM on those points as yet.

I'm a big fan of SolveigMM to edit/join my action cam files but I could really use some very basic editing features like titles and transitions. Is there other software out there that has that while retraining the speed and easy interfrace of SolveigMM ?

Yes, SmartRender 4 does titles and transitions....chapters as well.

http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tmsr4.html

I used it quite a bit for native trimming of HDV clips, with very good results, but with AVCHD (1080/30PF) files I've been a bit disappointed with the quality of the frames it re-encodes, which can extend to a couple of GOP's either side of a splice point. Mind you, if you are thinking to insert a transition at every cut-splice point that wouldn't be an issue. In it's favor, it is frame accurate. Video Splitter claims to be, but with my AVCHD clips I found that it always drops the last 2-3 frames of each trimmed segment, irrespective of where the cut is made. Still waiting (2months on) for a fix on that. Another nice feature of SmartRender 4 is the 'Smart Rendering Analyzer' which shows the frames that will be re-encoded.

Give the trial a whirl. It might be what you are looking for.

Thanks, will give it a try later today. One workaround I'd thought of was to create a short clip to be used as a "transition" but found it difficult to create one with specs that wouldn't "mess up" the joined file... I suppose I could use a "black" clip made with my action cam. Wouldn't work for the title though.

It seems to me there would be a bit of a market for that kind of app with all the videos being posted these days!

Hi All,

Meet our first Android App: TriMP4 - Cut video for sharing
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...mm.mp4splitter

TriMP4 enables smartphone users to tweak their video before sharing. The software operates with pre-compressed MP4. The editor removes unwanted parts of the video in just a couple clicks.
The trimmer does not employ any encoding/decoding processes, supports K-Frame accuracy quality and keeps data intact.

Press release:
http://www.solveigmm.com/en/press/so...er-for-mobile/

Solveig Multimedia unveils Video Splitter for Android, enabling smartphone users to tweak their video before sharing.

December 2, 2015 – Tomsk, Russia. Solveig Multimedia, a provider of video editing and analysis software, announces TriMP4, a native Android application, subset of their acknowledged desktop solution – SolveigMM Video Splitter for Windows.

Over the years, Video Splitter has topped industry ratings for seamless and lossless video editing. The software operates with pre-compressed FLV, AVC/H264, MP4, MOV, AVCHD, MPEG-2, MKV, MPEG-1, AVI, WMV, MP3, WMA files. The editor removes unwanted parts of the video in just a couple clicks, cuts and joins up video and audio streams.

Like its desktop sibling, TriMP4 does not employ any encoding/decoding processes, supports K-Frame accuracy quality and keeps data intact.

As smartphones and tablets outpace traditional cameras on the market, Solveig aims to introduce lossless video trimming to the booming mobile audience. The software enables Android users to make necessary cuts in smartphone video before sharing.

In contrast with competing mobile applications, Solveig focuses on ease-of-use, output quality and productivity rather than resource-hungry effects.

Features include:

• Intuitive interface and easy start-to-end navigation
• Embedded video player
• K-Frame editing of MP4 files
• Selection of video-only or audio-only editing
• Maintained video orientation, and many others!

The new app is available free of charge at Google Play and works smoothly on Android-based devices running ver. 4.0 and higher.
