Freeware DVD Audio Rip

Hello,

I'm looking for a freeware utility that will rip the audio from a DVD, ideally splitting it based on chapter information. Format doesn't matter, though ideally I'd like to have it mp3!

Can anyone assist?

Hi!

1) Load your DVD

2) Set DVD Decrypter to "IFO" mode

3) DVD Decrypter should automatically highlight/select the main

movie under the "Input" tab

4) Click on the "Stream Processing" tab and check "Enable

stream processing"

5) UNcheck all of the videostreams and audiostreams OTHER

THAN THE ONE YOU WISH TO EXTRACT.

6)HIGHLIGHT the stream you wish to extract

7) Click on "Demux"

8) Click on the "Destination" icon and select the drive/folder

location to save the audiostream to

9) Click on the "Decrypt" icon


Note - For an LPCM stereo audiostream, you may have to go

to:

Tools>>Settings>>IFO Mode and increase the VOB size from

1Gb to 2Gb, in order to be sure to generate only one .VOB for

the entire audiostream

I checked out the program. On the DVD I was ripping, I was able to extract the AC3 audio, but it was one big audio file. I noticed the program 'knew' about the chapters of the DVD, but it still ripped to one file. I did make sure 'Demux' was checked on the audio stream. Perhaps I'm missing something, but is there any way to make it rip the audio into separate files for each chapter?

Sure - by just selecting one chapter at a time for ripping ;>}

Question, can the splitting also be done by changing the File Splitting to By Chapter in IFO Mode settings?

Thanks for all your help guys. I could never figure out how to split by chapter in DVD Decrypter, but I did find a similar tool, SmartRipper, which had the exact setting 'ilovejedd' mentioned. I also did not use the Demux mode, but just outputted everything directly to .vob. Once I had the separate VOB's it was just a matter of running them through BeSweet to create the MP3's. The process is working great, thanks!

@deadset, that tool is not freeware, I have no interest in running these shady tools that do nothing until you give them $$$

You can cheat using AutoGK. Open the program as if you are going to create an AVI. Chose the audio you want and the format (AC3 or MP3). Start processing and watch the logs. As soon as the audio conversion is finished, you can stop the process. Go to the work folder and you will see the audio file.

You can do the same with GordianKnot, except that you can actually select to encode only the audio and skip the video processing altogether.
