Thanks for the trial.
But i think some more reports are needed coming from 4*** series users.

Otherwise albains has to find a way to put it into a package

I'm still open to any other suggestions. I fully believe it could be something stupid I'm doing/not doing. Anything I need to know about setting up the ffdshow options?

I honestly wish someone else with a 5870 would try this, as well, cause I'm not comfortable with my lack of knowledge here. Totally out of my element on this one.

So far I'm just getting garbled junk coming through. The receiver lights up with PCM (not multi-channel) and the output is garbled completely. I have disabled the internal filters for mpc-hc and am using ffdshow external filters as my preferred. I can see ffdshow come up on the taskbar when the sound and video are playing so that's all good. I have reclock set to wasapi exclusive for pcm and I have mpc-hd set to use reclock as the default output device. In ffdshow I enabled all the audio codecs and set the new experimental checkbox. Reclock shows 48KHz, 2 channel, PCM.

Open FFDShow Audio Decoder Properties page under graphstudio/graphedit.

Under "DirectShow Control" menu,
find mixer > output.

Select "Pass-through > Dolby True HD (or whatever)

Select "24 bit integer" under "Supported Output sample Formats"

Select "Connect to" any filter

Select "HDMI" under "Multichannel device"
And click to "Apply" and restart the application.

I had most of that. I didn't have 24 bit checked. But, unfortunately, ReClock is still showing 2 channel, 48, 16 bit on this track. I don't get it.

Well that's not what I wanted to hear! I wanted you to come back and say "idiot, click this!" sigh.

WOA WOA WOA here. Just on a whim I decided to try a DTS-HD MA track. I'm getting the same reading in reclock...48, 2 channel, 16 bit PCM. I'm seeing ONLY pcm lit up on my receiver. However, I'm getting sound in all channels. What the????? The sound is not garbled like the TrueHD test track. I'm not seeing a DTS-HD MA light. Is it just decoding DTS core?

I've got everything setup as per rica's recommended settings however nothing is showing on my av receiver.

Interestingly though, when playing ffdshow its showing in the taskbar area. When i hover over it, it reports for a TrueHD movie...

Input: 48000 Hz, 6 channels 1 kbps Dolby True HD (bitstream)
Output: 48000 Hz, 6 channels Bitstream Dol

...and a DTS-HD movie reports...

Input: 48000 Hz, 6 Channels 3kbps DTS HD (bitstream)
Output: 48000 Hz, 6 Channels Bitstream DTS-HD

I'm on a integrated ION Nvidia HDMI 1.3 audio card.

I've got the experimental WAVEEXTENSIBLE_IEC61937 stucture unticked.

Yea, it's only doing core. I'm not getting DTS-HD MA. I'm quite sure on this. So no, this is not working for me.

It's showing DTS 1536 for me and playing sound. I went in and set ONLY the HD codecs (yet I'm still getting the core DTS?? OOOK) and now TrueHD gives me no audio at all instead of the garbled audio from before. So, no, it's not working for me at all.

If i tick the WAVEEXTENSIBLE_IEC61937 option, strangely i get the DTS core passed through to my receiver! Unfortunately the TrueHD track i have has the AC3 core stripped out so i can't tell if the AC3 core would be passed though.

@Albain... would this be because my audio card doesn't support WAVEEXTENSIBLE_IEC61937, it's falling back to the usual normal ffdshow decoding (like you created in beta 5)?

Well, I'm done playing for now. At least I know how to set it all up if something changes. It should be noted I'm using the RC6 ATI driver on ATI's website for the 5870. That includes their HDMI audio driver, as well. I'm not using the realtek driver at all. If anything changes I can try again. For now I've uninstalled ffdshow so as not to mess with my normal media playing setup. (It shouldn't anyway, but, I'm overly cautious about what I have installed)

Don't look at me... I only have a 4670. I suspect vladd has his hands tied as much as me too.

Vladd already said he's not able to buy new hardware right now else we may find him lying in a ditch with a kitchen knife stuck in his head. So I guess I'm one of the lucky few with a 5xxx card that can test this. And I'm willing to do so whenever someone has an idea to get it to work.

Register MpegSplitter.ax (MPC MPEG Source-Gabest-), MPCVidDec.ax (MPC Video Decoder)

Install ffdshow beta 7

Open MPC-HC:

View > Options:

Internal filters: Untick all selected boxes (by default)

Output:

Select "RecLock" under DirectShow Audio option box.

External Filters:

Find out these under external filters list , add and select for everyone "prefer" as merit:

MPC MPEG Source-Gabest, MPC Video Decoder, ffdshow audio decoder.
I don't think there's a need to do all that. I have Haali installed, but I have just selected MPEG PS/TS/PVA on MPC-HC's internal filters, and have ffdshow up and running with TrueHD that way for m2ts files. For mkv, I also select "Matroska". Haven't installed the new beta though. MPC-HC is version 1.3.1280 I think.

I know but i wanted to simplify. Haali is a source+demuxer filter which is always preferred even you select any demuxer in most cases.
