Seven Samurai : Criterion Collection

What's up with Kurosawa's 7 Samurai?

DVD Shrink returns "failed to read : CRC errors"
DVD Decrypter in either ISO or FILE mode get hard read errors in 2 beginning sectors. Yet, am able to play on burner and Pany player (?) Have borrowed a friends copy and get the same failures, same sectors.

Anybody else experience this? Any suggestions?

I will check my own copy and let you know. I assume you are not using a so-called "Asia edition" (read: bootleg) - the "real" product should be double-sided and have no dts sound.

Pls. ignore that part about "double-sided" in my earlier posting, it is complete bs. I guess I mixed it up with the double-sided MeiAh releases of Kurosawa titles.

Anyway, back to your question - no, there are no read errors on my Criterion.

Thanx for the info. Yeah, it's a legit disc, single sided yellow half label. I'm stumped - usually I can backup on the computer-burner, while marginal disks fail on my Panasonic DVR. . . this is just the opposite.
