Is it possible to get mpc hc working with subs in a m2ts bluray file with dxva enabled?
i have auto load subs enabled, dxva works, and when i go to navigate and select the embedded subs they do not display. Im using mpc hc 1.4.2505 i read that you can use win7 filter tweaker to assign ffdshow to do dxva, but i was wondering if mpc hc internal isnt better for it Last edited by Tiduz; 9th September 2010 at 03:23. |

I've just made a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on my old HTPC(Intel E 1200, HD 3560 AGP , 2Gb RAM). Installed latest CCCP beta wich contains latest versions of MPC_HC(1.4.2505) , ffdshow tryouts ,Haali and VS filter. Other player installed(3rd party) Splash pro 1.1 , Pot Player. Licensed player: TMT3.
Because of the weak processor DXVA is mandatory. So i've made some tests to see how it works comparing with Vista 32bit wich I had before. Everything works great except a much higher CPU ussage in MPC_HC with DXVA(no matter wich DXVA decoder I'm using) comparing to any other player using DXVA ,for the same file at the same time index. For ex. MPC_HC gives about 35-40% CPU load ,TMT ,Splash -8-10% I have tried older MPC-HC builds(back to rev 2049) and the "issue" persists. MPC_HC is configured exactly as it was in Vista-according to Ranpha's tutorial: http://imouto.my/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/ I'll post later come screenshots and give any other information if it's necessary. try disabling everything in the righclick mouse menu under renderer settings, some of those are very cpu intensive

those crashes occur during seeking? or even when you just open it and let it play?
all vobs or one particular sample? Are you using internal or external filters?

First, thanks for adding the "Always default to external subtitles if available" option. This thing has been bugging me for a long time.
Second, you might want to rename it to "Prefer external subtitles"... or even better, add a drop down like this: Higher priority given to [External [V]] subtitles. Where you can change between "External" and "Embedded" subtitles. Btw, why isn't this option on by default? If a person bothers to put an external subtitle, he probably prefers it over the embedded one. Thanks again. |

Try resetting your registry settings and deleting the ini file if you have one, see the checklist link in my signature

@tetsuo55
Perhaps you could in the future ask users to backup the reg key and ini first and put them on pastebin? That might be helpful to figure out whether it was just a wrong setting, or some kind of bug in MPC. In case it is just a wrong setting, we can supply better help in similar future support cases. I got a suggestion for improving the current subtitle options: 1) Remove the option "Enabled" from Menu->Play->Subtitles. 2) Add a new option to Options->Subtitles->Misc to replace the above option. It should be called something like "Default to displaying no subtitles" or "Hide subtitles by default". This allows to auto-load subtitles, but to hide them by default. There already is a similar option in the standalone VSFilter. 3) Add a "No subtitles" selection to the list of subtitles in Menu->Play->Subtitles. This allow disabling subtitles just for the currently playing file, while the old "Enabled" option was remembered and applied to next files as well. This is also more in line with what for example ffdshow and Haali do. Edit: Also some suggestions for renaming: 1) "Always default to external subtitles if available" -> "Prefer external subtitles over embedded subtitles" Also I think this option should be enabled by default. If a user has both kind of subtitles, it is very likely he/she prefers the external one. 2) "Do not load embedded subtitles" -> "Ignore embedded subtitles" 3) Options->Subtitles->"Before you ask", this text fails to mention all the compatible video renderers. I suggest to simplify the text to: "The internal subtitle functionality is only available when a compatible video renderer is used. You can select the desired video renderer on the Output page under Playback options." Perhaps also add: "Compatible renderers are marked with '**' behind their name." And maybe also: "Recommended is VMR-9 (renderless) on XP, and EVR Custom on Vista/7."

putting the ini and reg key on a pastebin is a great idea, ill add that to the troubleshoot.
Can you give me a short and easy instruction for how to do that? On the renames and changes, if you could open a ticket, subtitle cosmetics i can assign it to a dev.
