VDubMod is excellent tool, but VDub version is already 1.6.10. When new version of vdubmod will be released?

Unfortunately there are no developers working on VirtualDubMod.

that is really very unfortunate...

the workflow with the virtualdubmod save dialog is much better than with the original vdub save as avi. also the avs script editor speeds up fixing small mistakes or parameter tuning in scripts.

i hereby officially request these two features in the original virtualdub... pleeeease?

edit:
i got the current vdub and vdubmod sources trying to merge some features. the vdubmod code came from sourceforge's cvs and now i got some questions

* is this the most recent? there are some pretty big differences to the original...
* is there a public cvs/svn repository for the original?
* is there a vdub modification including only the avs editor and only the save dialog modification?
* i get a build error with the original because some defines are missing in a header from the platform sdk (line 309-312 in cap_dshow.cpp (Riza) outcommenting helps). where do i get the updated header file?

I make some correction to Avisynth-related part of latest Vdubmod 1.5.10.1 source from CVS.
- Fixed: inserted frame range and imported frameset end position was
not correct in Avisynth Script editor (the same fix as I previously made for 1.5.4.1).
- Fixed: too small string buffer to show Avisynth Information messagebox.
- Updated: added new Avisynth v2.5.5 and v2.5.6 keywords to highlight list.

By the way, some small latest updates by Suiryc (or Cyrius ?) inluded too. (He add them to CVS after last build was released).
- Fixed: bug that could crash the program when using the Asus ASV2 codec.
Thanks to Michael Koester for the patch.
- Fixed: bug preventing to delete a file used as external audio source even after
having removed it from the stream list (VDM would still keep the file opened).
- Fixed: bug cutting audio too early (33% or 50% of the stream) when muxing VBR
Mpeg Audio other than Mpeg1-Layer3 or Mpeg-Layer2.
- Updated: fccHandler's MPEG2 support to latest version (1.5.10, 2004-03-04).
- Now read and write the new tags for Matroska files.
- Fixed: bug preventing 'clean' finalization of subtitle streams in OGM files.
- Fixed: (1.5.4) deadlock when muxing many audio/text streams in OGM/MKV files.
- Read and write aspect ratio info in AVI files.
- Fixed: take into account default OGM packets duration.
- Fixed: misbehaviour (duplicating software/title tags) for video tracks when
editing MKV files.
- Fixed: misbehaviour when processing corrupted Ogg/OGM files.
- Fixed: some subtitle out-of-sync issues when muxing some subtitles sources.
- Fixed: some random livelocks on audio muxing (due to race conditions).
Thanks to Michael Keeley for the patch.

I do not know, why he do not release it?
Temporary I put the updated sources and binary to my site for testing.
It will be great, if somebody put my update to CVS and release official bug-fix build.

Great!

Fizick, you can reach Suiryc as forums.virtualdub.org. He posts there now and then. Perhaps you can ask him to update CVS and release a new version?

- Read and write aspect ratio info in AVI files.

Would you be so kind as to point me to where in your build I might find this option? This option is very useful

Why not.
But I have to update a few things (if possible), so it won't happen in the next days.

@bugmenotwillyou
This is not an option. If there are AR information in the container (AVI or MKV) it is taken into account for the output container (AVI or MKV).
There is no way to add/change AR information in VDM.

No. VirtualDub MPEG2 is just VirtualDub + MPEG2 support (+ optional AC3 input), created by fccHandler. VirtualDubMod has a lot more added functionality.

* Matroska support
* Multiple (>2) audio stream support for all output formats
* AviSynth integration
* Additional audio formats: AC3, OGG Vorbis and VBR MP3.
* Etc.

From my point of view one basic function is urgently needed in VDM ie possibility to measure DELAY for audio streams, and here is real man that can do it, namely neuron2
Then we can, even here on Doom9 forum, name VDM as the best program.

may be some additional filters also for deinterlacing as separate fields...

For today I am using strange way according to neuron2 and me also

deinterlace > discarge field (2)
resize to original
deinterlace > discarge field (1)
resize to original

strange but it is working

may be also to keep SMD happy to add aac muxing for audio streams

Don't expect too much. This won't be a VDM 1.6.x, just another version fixing few more bugs.
There were and still are reasons for us not to release a 1.6.x version, such as
1. too many changes between 1.5.x and 1.6.x (especially in the same parts that were heavily changed to implement VDM features)
2. lack of time

Yes,I ask the same question.It's shame that VirtualDub 1.6.10 don't finaly include MPEG2 and AC3 audio support.

At least,he can do that,only if he want.

MPEG2 is wrapped up nicely in patents and licencing. It is my guess that Avery does not want to expose himself in the slightest. He has stated in the past that the above issues are the reason it is not included, so he can hardly turn around and say "oh, I didn't know" when they knock at the door.

I expect AC3 is the same, but since I don't ever use it, I don't know.

But as for the other features that VDM has, I must say I do really wonder why he hasn't rolled them back in !?!

a. Perhaps he didn't deem some of them useful, to him particullary. He is much more focussed on the capturing side of the program, than on what most modifications of VDM are aimed on.
b. He's not too fond of recycling other people's code.
c. It's more work.
