AAC Parsing and Muxing

Is there any software that allows efficient muxing of AAC/mp4 streams to "avi".If possible multichannel AAC muxing.Thanks.

Nope. AVI doesn't support AAC ( or many other things ). Although there has been talk of hacking AAC into AVI, you're much better off with OGM or Matroska.

AVI could support CBR AAC fine, as AAC is using a constant number of samples per frame, different to Ogg Vorbis. As for CBR/VBR, the same hack ( inconsistency of M$ AVI parser filter ) could be used like with VBR MP3.

Just please allow me to stress my analogy with the indian saying about riding a dead horse .....

How on OGM and MKV?

Which software is prefferebly suited for muxing AAC on to OGM/MKV and is any filters required for playback?(Other than 3ivx splitter)

You can use mkvtoolnix to mux aac to Matroska format. Use coreaac to playback the sound. Coreaac is included in the download package at www.matroska.org.
