If that means I can't use fullscreen then perhaps I should just stick with EVR as a renderer ?

I don't even have a real need for MadVR anyways.

You don't need FSE mode. I haven't used it in years.
There are lots of benefits to using madVR in comparison to EVR, but ultimately it's your decision.

I wasn't aware there was a normal fullscreen option for MadVR is my point.

Do I disable "Enable automatic fullscreen exclusive mode" ?

Yes, the newest madVR also defaults to FSE disabled.

Like ryrynz, I don't use FSE, in the latest madvr, FSE is not ticked by default.

So according to that link in Asmodian's sig, its only benefit is for 10bit and above and maybe performs slightly faster ?

It is not even required for 10-bit anymore, if you are using DX11.

Edit: updated my options explained post, that info was out of date. Does anyone know if you still need FSE for 10-bit in Windows 7/8?

Hi madshi,

is D3D11 DXVA Deinterlacing still on your to do list? I am not asking for an ETA, but would like to know if there are technical issues or only just lack of time.

A (stupid) question: my external DAC provides only 1080p HDMI output, so if in the future I'll want to reach a 2K or 4K display I should use both the two HDMI output from the graphic card (one for video to the display, the other for audio to the DAC), but in this case I'll lost the Exclusive mode of madVR, am I right? Do exist a way to avoid it?

That would not change anything with regards to madVR, madVR does not care what the audio is doing.

Thanks Asmodian, but as far as I know madVR works better in Exclusive mode than otherwise, or not?

I've also found out that, depending if I'm using duplicate or extended desktop output, the driver set the RX480 in different way: in duplicate mode Windows loose the DAC (says "not connected) because the driver feels that the projector isn't an audio device; in extended mode the DAC becomes the main device and I loose the PJ abilities, like HDR or 2/4K...

It used to work better a couple of years back or so but windowed mode works just as well now.

Due to both exclusive mode getting worse and windowed mode getting better in Windows 10.

I just checked it 2 weeks ago, when you first started to talk about it:
yes, you need FSE on Win8 for 10bit, and it only works with new path not the old path using dx9, and using dx10.

For some reason I don't have the white dots anymore even with compression disabled...

Not sure where the issue came from... so many weird issues.

EDIT : ha nope, they are back

https://imgur.com/aIdtLu9

Anyone knows what the issue causing this thing ? it worked fine SOMEHOW and I didn't change anything.

Setting the Black Level from LOW to HIGH make the white dots disappear but ruins the picture .

Setting in MadVR black level instead 0-255 to 16-235 fix the issue also but also ruins the picture... so it's something with MadVR can't show properly HDR.

Or maybe it's just the compression of the movies ? but how come no one see them too.. maybe no one is using MadVR and using 16-235 ? or Black Level High ? because there is no other way.

In movie Fifty.Shades.Darker.2017 I don't have white dots at all. so could this be the movies specifically ?

What? you may as well run audio through graphics card, they all provide hdmi audio drivers. What model of "DAC" is this? Sounds weird.

First thing I would do is testing another HDMI cable.

ok, lets go through a process of elimination, start by providing some details about your setup.

Windows version:
Windows desktop resolution:
Pixel: eg, 4:4:4 Full rgb or 4:2:0 YBCR
TV details, 4k?
HDMI cable speed, 18gbps?
Madvr colour space setting, 16-235 or 0-255
Graphics card model:
Graphics card dynamic range setting:
do you use a receiver or is the PC connected direct to the TV?
Do you have a 4k bluray player, does it do the same thing using the same cable and HDMI port?
