Hm, is that really all you want to offer as votes?

How about:

- MF II-CD (MFCD)
Mode/form 2 cd, maybe you remember those old PC keyboard architecture from the 80s?

- Extended Video CD (EVCD)
Self explanatory

- Use All CD (UACD)
- HugeCD (HCD)

and so on?

Best regards,
Koepi

done

I voted for MCF-CD ( of course ) but i agree there should be a general name for other purposes. EVCD is quite nice, but as it may contain all sorts of data as i understand it, not only video, its maybe not the right name ?

Probably 'More-CD' is not the worst of all ....

What about "XCD" (Extended CD/Extra CD)? It's very short and reflects an extended format.

I personally don't like much the "MoreCD" name but seems this is the preferred one. EVCD seems a bit confusing (since we already have XVCD, CVCD... people will think it's another VCD variant for standalone players, and currently it's not), and as I said MCF-CD is not suitable because it's a different format.

I REALLY like Extended CD. It sounds cool, XCD is easy to say, and I think it will catch on. Go with that

XCD also goes nicely with XviD and DivX.

How about adding another choice? U-AVD as in Universal AudioVideo Disc? Since it allows all formats to be written to the CD instead of just the mpeg1/mpeg1 layerII format.

xcd.org is already blocked by some kind of domain grabber. Like almost all 3 letter domain names. ( http://xcd.org )

XCD fer me. It can reside with the rest of the MCF tools on their page so there is no need for it's own site. have you looked at X-CD.org? dashes are allowed aren't they?

Extended CD is too close to Extra CD which already exists...
Otherwise I also think More CD is a nice name.

Well in fact it's not "Extra CD", but "CD Extra", the name of the existing format. It's a multisession disc with audio tracks in the first one and a data track in the second.

Seems we have two winners, MoreCD and XCD. It's fun because XCD has been on the list less than 24h

Well for me it would be MoreCD, because it will be referred as MCD which can also work for MCF-CD.
Anyway that's just a convention. I guess the official spec will retain the name MCF-CD.

IEEE1394 is called IEEE1394 in the spec...
Otherwise you call it Firewire, iLink or SB1394...

Where is the pb ?

IEEE is a known and respectable institution. i won't mind this cd format called IEEExyzw.

with all due respect, mcf has not yet gained the popularity of IEEE with regard to standards

is the domain so important? I didn't start my site with having a domain name.. we could always go for something like extended-cd.com. I find it much more important that people can identify with the format thru its name.
