Have you found a solution? And is there any way to address or solve it as it's not a Windows 7 problem? |

I can tell you that in 90% of the cases where you are running into an issue and you are using Windows 7 -- Windows 7 is the cause and it will work correctly in Vista or Xp. You may fall into that other 10%, I don't know, but (as the huge number of Win7 issues posted across the Internet will confirm) -- Windows 7 is NOT READY FOR PRIME-TIME. If it were, people wouldn't have to make registry changes to make legacy software run!!! That is very clearly why I WILL NOT SUPPORT IT until it is fixed. If you're convinced you know more than me -- fine, use Windows 7 to your heart's content and be happy. Just don't try to hand your headaches over to me. I will not attempt (at least not yet) to fix Microsoft's bugs or incompatibilities. The exact same set of issues happened when NT, 95/98, XP, and Vista was released. Microsoft along with 3rd party vendors will clean it up -- but they haven't yet. "Hopeful thinking" and wishing it weren't true certainly isn't going to help. You can't just make the assumption that "Microsoft has changed -- and it will be different this time". I probably do more discs in testing that any 10 other typical people -- and I just cruise from disc-to-disc and almost never hit an error. If I do, I fix it. If someone reports one, I will buy that disc and try it. If I hit the error, I will fix it (and have done so on plenty -- this is beta software after all). But I can't fix things that are caused by experimental setups... and others should have the common sense not to ask me to. I guess it could be I'm just lucky -- but I don't believe in "luck". I believe we make our own luck. I can tell you very assuredly that jumping onto a Microsoft O/S as soon as they throw it onto the Internet is a good way to make your own bad luck. I don't want to see any more "it's not Windows 7" posts. Run it on Vista or XP, and when you get the error we can talk... otherwise, figure it out yourself. 2. Install "VC1 Tweaker (Haali)" 64bit version. 3. Graphstudio->insert filter->VC1 Tweaker (haali)->Click "Change Merrit"->Change to "Preferred +2" 4. Disable VC1 decoding in ffdshow. Sorted...providing you have TMT2 installed. |

I did a full disc backup with 'Children of Men'. As soon as you select play from the DVD menu, it crashes PowerDVD 9. This is the first disc I've had a problem with. Here's the log:
Code:

Have you tried it on a standalone player? If PowerDVD "crashes" on anything, it means there is an issue in PowerDVD. If it simply says "I can't play this" or "your disc sucks" and exits gracefully -- it may be a different story.

Well, I've found a bug!!
Trying to do Batman Begins, and it looks like BD-Rebuilder (0.28.03) is mixing the secondary video with the primary one. It says it's encoding the secondary, using the secondary bitrate, but actually encoding the primary. here is the INF: Code:
[Status] LABEL=BATMAN_BEGINS VERSION=v0.28.03 (beta) SOURCE_SIZE=40040045985 SOURCE_VIDEO_SIZE=36168726528 TARGET_SIZE=25165824000 REDUCTION=.588754611708954 RESIZE_1080=0 AUDIO_TO_KEEP=eng; SUBS_TO_KEEP=all BACKUP_MODE=0 QUICK=0 ENCODE_STEP=2 [00000] AUDIO=0100001 PGS=11111111111111111111111111111111 M2TS_TARGET=14224421144 RATE=8190 Hope this is helpful! |

Firstly, as far as the problem I had, I was able to solve it. I simply reinstalled avisynth and everything is working again. Related to the attempt to copy 12 Monkeys, still no go. And I tried it on a different computer, with Vista. So for the record "it's not windows 7". If I turn it into an ISO it works but there is something about this disc that simply won't work. Now, I don't know if your post is directed toward me, but as far as your post goes, I can understand where you're coming from. You have stated that you don't support 7, but I wasn't aware of that until now. And now I'm getting the same error on Vista. Either way, other then this one disc, I have no problem. I enjoy using this program, and will continue to do so. I'm also very grateful for your hard work and support. |

Full backup / 1-pass / Quick Extras disabled:
crf prediction loops at crf=24.0 for one of the Extras. Secondly: Any possibility to change the preset (eg as an hidden option) when "Quick for Extras" is enabled? Now BD-RB uses ultrafast at crf 28, can I change to a slower preset, like fast or medium? (I enabled Quick for Extras to prevent the crf prediction looping issue ...) I'm still looking at this -- but 00002.MPLS very definitely violates the BD standard. The offset to the data block (ext_data_start_address) in the first ExtensionData() entry is required by the specification to be on a dword boundary -- and it isn't. In fact the data_block_start_address itself must also start on a dword boundary and doesn't. I'll have to see if there is a way to correct it -- but the error is very definitely on the disc, not in BD Rebuilder.

The secondary is encoded immediately before the primary, so it's probable that by the time you look at LASTCMD.TXT you're seeing the command for the primary. Can you playback the output of the secondary encode and see if it is 480p? Last edited by jdobbs; 22nd August 2009 at 15:16. |
