Great, so you're saying even if i reinstall Vista I'm going to have this problem?

Have you found a solution? And is there any way to address or solve it as it's not a Windows 7 problem?

Do you support Windows 2008 Server 64-bit? It's officially released.

I can’t speak for you but when I was using vista I ran into problem. However restarting encoding from beginning fixes it. (Just make sure to delete any working dir and and temp files) This may not always work!!!. Just one of those hiccups which happen during encoding especially since BDRB is BETA. But no need to reinstall vista again.

I will try with Windows Xp Media Center Edition and see if it does the same thing.

This isn't aimed specifically at your response, but more generally to all Windows 7 users.

I can tell you that in 90% of the cases where you are running into an issue and you are using Windows 7 -- Windows 7 is the cause and it will work correctly in Vista or Xp.

You may fall into that other 10%, I don't know, but (as the huge number of Win7 issues posted across the Internet will confirm) -- Windows 7 is NOT READY FOR PRIME-TIME. If it were, people wouldn't have to make registry changes to make legacy software run!!!

That is very clearly why I WILL NOT SUPPORT IT until it is fixed. If you're convinced you know more than me -- fine, use Windows 7 to your heart's content and be happy. Just don't try to hand your headaches over to me. I will not attempt (at least not yet) to fix Microsoft's bugs or incompatibilities.

The exact same set of issues happened when NT, 95/98, XP, and Vista was released. Microsoft along with 3rd party vendors will clean it up -- but they haven't yet. "Hopeful thinking" and wishing it weren't true certainly isn't going to help. You can't just make the assumption that "Microsoft has changed -- and it will be different this time".

I probably do more discs in testing that any 10 other typical people -- and I just cruise from disc-to-disc and almost never hit an error. If I do, I fix it. If someone reports one, I will buy that disc and try it. If I hit the error, I will fix it (and have done so on plenty -- this is beta software after all). But I can't fix things that are caused by experimental setups... and others should have the common sense not to ask me to.

I guess it could be I'm just lucky -- but I don't believe in "luck". I believe we make our own luck. I can tell you very assuredly that jumping onto a Microsoft O/S as soon as they throw it onto the Internet is a good way to make your own bad luck.

I don't want to see any more "it's not Windows 7" posts. Run it on Vista or XP, and when you get the error we can talk... otherwise, figure it out yourself.

No, and probably never will. Server operating systems are optimized for running a server. BD-RB is not a server.

I've attempted to follow the other instructions posted but Arcsoft is not listed under 64-bit using Win7DSFilterTweaker v1.4. Some of the other links are dead.

I don't see anything in BD-RB's *.ini file either.
1. Download "graphstudio" after doing the registry tweak (basically just deleting that "preferred subtree").

2. Install "VC1 Tweaker (Haali)" 64bit version.

3. Graphstudio->insert filter->VC1 Tweaker (haali)->Click "Change Merrit"->Change to "Preferred +2"

4. Disable VC1 decoding in ffdshow.

Sorted...providing you have TMT2 installed.

@Furiousflea

I was able to repeat the error on the Region A version of Pinnochio. I'm looking into it.

Have you tried it on a standalone player? If PowerDVD "crashes" on anything, it means there is an issue in PowerDVD. If it simply says "I can't play this" or "your disc sucks" and exits gracefully -- it may be a different story.

Hi!

Exactly what happens that you're describing as Power DVD "crashing"?

That is understandable.

No, I just started using windows 7 a week ago. Prior to it I was using Win Vista Sp2 and Win 7 as a dual boot and had some problems. I probably fall towards codec issue when something happen like this.

Again, Agree

No Problem, As a beta tester I know the importance of being on same boat when testing software.

I agree with you, Microsoft think that “3rd party vendors will clean it up”

Just to sum it up I had problem in vista Sp2 as well. It is mention few post back. Also whenever I give bugs report I run it on Vista and Xp before talking about in forum. Any posts which belong to me and I mention BDRB bugs in it was under Win Vista or/ And Win XP. No Win 7 as it is beta.

Well, I've found a bug!!

Trying to do Batman Begins, and it looks like BD-Rebuilder (0.28.03) is mixing the secondary video with the primary one.

It says it's encoding the secondary, using the secondary bitrate, but actually encoding the primary. here is the INF:

Code:
[Status]
LABEL=BATMAN_BEGINS
VERSION=v0.28.03 (beta)
SOURCE_SIZE=40040045985
SOURCE_VIDEO_SIZE=36168726528
TARGET_SIZE=25165824000
REDUCTION=.588754611708954
RESIZE_1080=0
AUDIO_TO_KEEP=eng;
SUBS_TO_KEEP=all
BACKUP_MODE=0
QUICK=0
ENCODE_STEP=2
[00000]
AUDIO=0100001
PGS=11111111111111111111111111111111
M2TS_TARGET=14224421144
RATE=8190
As you can see in the images, the secondary video is 480p while the primary is 1080p, yet when BD-RB claims to encode the secondary (with a low 8mbit rate) it actually encodes the 1080p primary (I've also verified using the lastcmd.txt that the AVS it encodes is indeed of the primary, not secondary).

Hope this is helpful!

Firstly, as far as the problem I had, I was able to solve it. I simply reinstalled avisynth and everything is working again.

Related to the attempt to copy 12 Monkeys, still no go. And I tried it on a different computer, with Vista. So for the record "it's not windows 7". If I turn it into an ISO it works but there is something about this disc that simply won't work.

Now, I don't know if your post is directed toward me, but as far as your post goes, I can understand where you're coming from. You have stated that you don't support 7, but I wasn't aware of that until now.

And now I'm getting the same error on Vista.

Either way, other then this one disc, I have no problem. I enjoy using this program, and will continue to do so. I'm also very grateful for your hard work and support.

Full backup / 1-pass / Quick Extras disabled:
crf prediction loops at crf=24.0 for one of the Extras.

Secondly: Any possibility to change the preset (eg as an hidden option) when "Quick for Extras" is enabled? Now BD-RB uses ultrafast at crf 28, can I change to a slower preset, like fast or medium?
(I enabled Quick for Extras to prevent the crf prediction looping issue ...)

I'm still looking at this -- but 00002.MPLS very definitely violates the BD standard. The offset to the data block (ext_data_start_address) in the first ExtensionData() entry is required by the specification to be on a dword boundary -- and it isn't. In fact the data_block_start_address itself must also start on a dword boundary and doesn't. I'll have to see if there is a way to correct it -- but the error is very definitely on the disc, not in BD Rebuilder.

I'll look, but I think it's probably just reporting it wrong. In the BD-RB tables the secondary is a subelement of the primary. I think the attributes are being reported from the primary. But stranger things have happened.

The secondary is encoded immediately before the primary, so it's probable that by the time you look at LASTCMD.TXT you're seeing the command for the primary. Can you playback the output of the secondary encode and see if it is 480p?
