dimzon's BeSweet encoding plugins (update 2005-09-16)

Latest build are bundled with fresh BeLight beta:

Consist of
  • bse_WinampAACPlusV2 - AAC+ v2 encoder, MPEG2 AAC output (no MP4 container), no 5.1 support
  • bse_WinampAACPlusV2_6ch - AAC+ v2 encoder, MPEG2 AAC output (no MP4 container), 5.1 encoding only
  • bse_FAAC - FAAC-based AAC-LC encoding plugin, support MP4 output, now support 5.1 encoding
  • bse_Speex - Speex encoding plugin
  • bse_enhAacPlusEnc3GP - AAC+ v2 encoder based on 3GPP reference encoder from CT, MP4 output.
Future plans (frozen - I'm very busy IRL ATM):
  • HE-AAC 5.1 support - PRIMARY TASK
  • bse_WavPack - simple WavPack encoder

Seems line enc_aacplus.dll from WinAmp 5.1 can create 5.1 HE-AAC !

get BeSweet encoding plugin here!
NOTE: Only for 5.1 encoding

BeSweet error message:

Code:

And now there's a 6ch one.. wouldn't it make sense to have just one plugin for everything? and do both winamp encoders only support cbr?

I will merge them a little later and they both AFAIK support cbr only

really nice work !
it really great to see that besweet could still expand,
a boring question but are you planning to try some input plugin (like .dts) once your work on the AAC will be stable enought ?

keep up the good work.

Let's hope that Kurt can finalize his DTS implementation in BeLight using Tranzcode.

I'd prefer to keep the stickies basic. Once your plugins have matured a bit and any issues have been worked out, we'll add links to the respective stickies.

I am having problem with FAAC plugin. FAAC.exe and bse_FAAC.dll were added to BeSweet folder. Input AC3 file is 6 channel ATSC A/52 according to foobar. The same azid and faac parameters work with this AC3 input file when used with each program individually, but do not work in BeSweet. I am new to BeSweet, so command line may not be correct.

This is my command line:

"BeSweet/BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "input.ac3" -output "output.m4a" -logfile logfile.log ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -s surround ) -dimzon( -dllname bse_FAAC.dll -b 64 )

This is the Besweet logfile:

BeSweet v1.5b31 by DSPguru.
--------------------------
Using azid.dll v1.9 (b922) by Midas (midas@egon.gyaloglo.hu).
Using Shibatch.dll v0.25 by Naoki Shibata & DSPguru (shibatch.sourceforge.net).
Using bse_FAAC by dimzon, Build Sep 12 2005, 16:41:16

Logging start : 09/12/05 , 17:46:54.

BeSweet/BeSweet.exe -core( -input input.ac3 -output output.m4a -logfile logfile.log ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -s surround ) -dimzon( -dllname bse_FAAC.dll -b 64 )

[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : input.ac3
[00:00:00:000] | Output: output.m4a
[00:00:00:000] | Floating-Point Process: No
[00:00:00:000] +-------- AZID -------
[00:00:00:000] | Input Channels Mode: 3/2, Bitrate: 448kbps
[00:00:00:000] | Output Stereo mode: Dolby surround compatible
[00:00:00:000] | Total Gain: 0.000dB, Compression: None
[00:00:00:000] | LFE levels: To LR -INF, To LFE 0.0dB
[00:00:00:000] | Center mix level: BSI
[00:00:00:000] | Surround mix level: BSI
[00:00:00:000] | Dialog normalization: No
[00:00:00:000] | Rear channels filtering: No
[00:00:00:000] | Source Sample-Rate: 48.0KHz
[00:00:00:000] +---------------------
[00:02:30:336] Conversion Completed !
[00:00:14:000] <-- Transcoding Duration

The output.m4a file produced is nothing but noise. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

EDIT:
I also tried this with no parameters for azid and faac (using defaults) with same results.

is this enc_aacplus.dll in your package the same as winamp's?
it's confusing since you UPX-ed it (how can i find out they are the same) ... plus you say in readme to copy the dll from winamp\plugins !?

dimzon: How can you simply substitute in another DLL in the bse_ framework? Wouldn't the entrypoints/calls be vastly different? (PM me or email me if it's a long or lengthy explanation if you wish. )

cmd line
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\GORDIANKNOT\BESWEET\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\temp\DVD\audio.ac3" -output "C:\temp\DVD\audio.aac" -logfilea "C:\temp\DVD\BeSweet.log" ) -azid( -c normal --maximize ) -dimzon( -dllname bse_WinampAacPlusV2.dll ) -ssrc( --rate 44100 )

i get besweet error ...
debug assertion failed
program c:\program files\gordianknot\besweet\besweet.exe
file fprintf.c
line 56
expression str != null

also some versioning or date stamping of your archives (or in readme file) would be nice ...

iradic:

enc_aacplus.dll in package is not the same as the one in WinAmp (size is different).

The following command line works for me:

"BeSweet/BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "input.ac3" -output "mp2.aac" ) -azid( ) -dimzon( -dllname bse_WinampAacPlusV2.dll )
