MPC-HC (1.6.2.4634) does not close properly sometimes if you use madVR (v0.82.5 and downwards.) and you have to exit the program in Windows Task Manager under Processes.
You must first press CTRL+C and then ALT+X to be sure that MPC-HC is closed properly. Last edited by MSL_DK; 8th May 2012 at 18:13. |

I.e. Keep going 6233628 Etc, I am very curious of what all of you have to say! (And I cannot be alone...) Btw personally while I agree with reducing ringing in low-resolution cartoons, I do not have any problems with ringing when up-scaling 720P movies to 1080P. Furthermore, my Pioneer Kuro Plasma has significantly less ringing artifacts than most LCD displays. On the other hand some associates *hate* even the slightest ringing. Thus [at least to me] that is by definition a user-preference, or at least a setting that is not "one size fits all." Last edited by Mikey2; 9th May 2012 at 04:35. |

just don't use it then, there's no reason for madashi to produce an excellent video renderer and be infesting peoples computers with viruses.

It's not even a trick at all, all AVs, even free ones, have their false positive rates. He's confusing legit AVs with rogue malware. In any case, it's pretty obvious it was a false positive.

I concur with everyone here: given that we actually talk with the developer I do not see this as a problem.
Furthermore, I use VirusTotal often. Everytime only 1 (out of 32 or so scanners) comes up with something it has always been a false positive. (Especially when all of the best-made anti-malware companies (like Malware-Bytes) all come up clean. It's a great site, but can leave it opened to paranoia if taken too literally. (VirusTotal itself explains this exact thing on their own website.) |

It actually appears that eSafe is flagging the hash of InstallFilter.exe, but by changing one bit anywhere in the file, the false positive disappears.
That should make the solution easy. madshi just needs to recompile InstallFilter.exe for the next release and hope eSafe won't be idiotic a second time in a row. |

Nobody cares since eSafe didn't pick up a virus. Install Filter itself is completely harmless. All it does is prompt for administrator escalation if UAC is enabled and then run regsvr32. It's a handy tool, which I've actually been making use of for quite awhile as a general purpose shell extension for registering/unregistering *.dll & *.ax files.
