unwanted file split
I have read the faq but I couldn't find an answer so I'm sorry if this has been covered before..
I have selected "predetermined size" 1/3 DVDR and AutoGk does this but it also gives me a second copy of the avi file split into cd1 and cd2. I have copied part of the log below. [20/02/2006 04:03:54] AutoGK 2.20 [20/02/2006 04:03:54] OS: WinXP (5.1.2600).2 [20/02/2006 04:03:54] Job started. AC3 2ch [20/02/2006 04:03:54] Subtitles: none [20/02/2006 04:03:54] Format: .AVI [20/02/2006 04:03:54] Target size: 1400Mb [20/02/2006 04:03:54] Custom resolution settings: fixed width of 720 pixels [20/02/2006 04:03:54] Started encoding. [20/02/2006 04:03:54] Demuxing and indexing. [20/02/2006 04:05:41] Processing file: D:\Movies\Fortune\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB [20/02/2006 04:05:41] Processing file: D:\Movies\Fortune\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_2.VOB [20/02/2006 04:05:41] Processing file: D:\Movies\Fortune\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_3.VOB [20/02/2006 04:05:41] Processing file: D:\Movies\Fortune\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_4.VOB snip [20/02/2006 06:58:37] Duration was: 2 hours 39 minutes 40 seconds [20/02/2006 06:58:37] Speed was: 15.99 fps. [20/02/2006 06:58:37] Running second pass. [20/02/2006 09:28:40] Duration was: 2 hours 30 minutes 2 seconds [20/02/2006 09:28:40] Speed was: 17.02 fps. [20/02/2006 09:28:41] Splitting video into: D:\Movies\Fortune\VIDEO_TS\Fortune.cd1.avi [20/02/2006 09:29:49] Splitting video into: D:\Movies\Fortune\VIDEO_TS\Fortune.cd2.avi [20/02/2006 09:30:51] Job finished. Total time: 5 hours 26 minutes 57 seconds Now note it says in the log 'target size' 1400MB but I didn't use custom size but merely the preset 1/3DVDR. I have done this before to put a 3 part program on 1 DVDR but what has happened? The processing also took much longer than usual normally about 2/3rds the above times. |

Just make sure you select 1399 or 1401 instead of 1400. 1400 always auto-splits.
Since you've already done the encode, you can merge the two files with VirtualDubMod (Open the first video, set the slider to the end with the >| button, click File > Append segment and select the second part, click Video > Direct stream copy, and save with a new, unique filename). |

Also I ended up with 3 files, one file was 1490MB (what I wanted) and 2 other files called CD1 and CD2 of approx 716.etc MB. I've never seen this behaviour before and I routinely use "Predetermined size 1/3 DVDR 1493MB". I tried it again on another file and same result. I turned off the computer waited the regulation count of 10 rebooted did it a third time and all was okay! aaaargh I hate it when I can't find out what went wrong. now where is a puzzled smiley? |
