Remuxing is for the most part dependent on HDD speed, or of course blu-ray drive speed. Interesting about DVDFab though. With LAV, I guess copyback would be an option for me if I do buy or build a new PC, since NV cards with my receiver are just annoying (yeah, yeah, I know I'm always going on about this ). My conundrum then would be that if it's a laptop, I want an NV card cause of Optimus. The new HP DV6t quad is looking mighty good.

Has anyone had any problems using NVIDIA CUVID with 2 cards in SLI-mode? On other hardware decoders, including MPC-HC's internal one and even CoreAVC, the Video Decoding is done on the secondary card/GPU, thus leaving the primary card to do the rendering. However, according to GPU-Z, hardware decoding with LAV is being done on the primary card. This hurts my performance since everything is being run on one GPU, leaving the second one doing nothing. (Even CoreAVC runs more smoothly with fewer glitches than LAV Video Decoder on my system because of this!)

I can always go back to Software Decoding; however, I am running some CPU-intensive avisynth scripts, so I would like to free-up the CPU by doing decoding on my GPU...

Thanks much in advance for your help!

You should make sure ffmpeg is checked out with LF line endings (set git config core.autocrlf to "false" or "input", not to "true")

Edit:
I also fixed it in the repository that it shouldnt be needed anymore.
Can you please fixed it again in the repository ?

You should really fix your local setup.

Clearly, something is wrong.
it should be set to "false" or "input" to avoid the ffmpeg issue.

I just pushed a fix for the original issue, though.

Working now
I was getting that error after changing it to "false" or "input"
After setting back to "true" and your update it's working again

Could it be cause I'm using http://code.google.com/p/msysgit/dow...09.7z&can=2&q= without any modifications ?

Why do think I put a 256gb vertex 4 in my new machine, Andy. transcoding is very fast when read from an ssd and written to a fast he'd.

Sure, I wasn't saying that transcoding can't be HDD dependent, especially with those crazy speeds QS gives you, only that remuxing usually is, unless you have a very old CPU with a relatively new hard drive.

I can tell you that whatever QS is doing, it's super fast compared to even CUVID. CUVID transcoding takes almost double the time. I'm wondering if QS is better with LAV than CUVID? I've not had any issues with it, but, I simply meant is there some theoretical advantage using QS vs CUVID for decoding?

QS is faster, so seeking may be faster in some situations. QS may also use less power, because in default mode any CUDA access forces 3D performance clocks. Not sure if thats still valid for 6xx cards though, they redid power/performance management.

Interesting. Maybe I'll set that up again and check it out. I'm really liking the 680 a lot so far. Hell, I'm really enjoying the whole machine. But I'm now nVidia on both HTPC's which I consider a good thing. Now I have options...

LAV Filters 0.50.3
Code:
LAV Splitter
- Fixed playback of raw PCM in AVI streams
- Fixed a rare misdetection of MPEG-2 as VC-1

LAV Video
- QuickSync: Fixed playback of some H.264 streams that would run out of sync on newer drivers
- Fixed a memory leak when playing H.264 RGB (and some other formats)
- Improved behaviour for H.264 and MPEG-2 on Live TV channel changes

LAV Audio
- Added support for Speex (via libspeex)
- Improved support for AMR-NB/WB (using OpenCore decoder)
Download: Installer (both x86/x64) -- Zips: 32-bit & 64-bit

Another small bugfix release, nothing big and special. Maybe for some people Speex support may be useful. Note that it only works really well with LAV Splitter.

Something some people already noticed, i created a Git clone of the QuickSyncDecoder repository, and added it as a new submodule into my Git tree.
This makes integrating it into the build process and debugging much easier. It should hopefully also make building the whole package a bit easier for everyone else.

I still plan to work on audio mixing as the next big project, just not sure when i'll find the time exactly.

In the meantime, take care and have fun!

Nev, I'm having trouble with files that have had cuts made in TS-Doctor, which is configured to use LAV Splitter and LAV decoders. I always make edits at key frames, trying to avoid issues.

When I playback this sample, the edit point (at ~19 seconds) plays as you would expect when using MadVR + software decoding (LAV 0.50.3). However, it briefly goes a bit weird when using EVR + software decoding (minor flashing). The main issue is when using EVR + DXVA2 Native (nVidia) - it basically goes mental (a lot of flashing and the audio cuts out for about a second).

Is this something that can be fixed? If it's a problem with how the file is put together then I'd appreciate any info you can provide so I can pass it on to the author of TS-Doctor (who is very good at helping on his forum and fixing bugs).

Thanks!

ffdshow dxva has serious issues with subtitles, it will cause corruption on certain files.
You cannot just modify the surfaces of the video to add subtitles, because those surfaces are still used as reference frames.

I see no big issues.
It flashes a bit more then software decoding (but still not "mental"), but audio keeps going, and its not really all that bad.

Anyway, you need to make sure the edit is at an IDR frame, not just an I frame.
I didn't look what is in this file, its always a bit hard to find those spots exactly.

Other then that, i dunno.

LAV Filters 0.50.4
Code:
LAV Video
- Fixed seeking with QuickSync running in madVR Exclusive Mode
Download: Installer (both x86/x64) -- Zips: 32-bit & 64-bit

Some stupid error managed to sneak into the last version, so here is a new one!
Really, only that one commit.
