Capture and compress on-the-fly

I have a digital video camera (lika a surveillance camera) and i capture at 30 fps (raw images). Iwould like to compress them on-th-fly and i have no ideea how to do it.
Can anybody help me please?

What software are you using for capture?

In VirtualDub, you set compression from the capture menu: Video -> Compression -> choose desired capture codec.

can i import the stream from my camera in avisynth? i would like to use avysinth as a frameserver. The stream comes from the digital camera through a ethernet cable. Is there a plugin that can do this?

i found today TCPServer() and TCPSource() in avisynth. Has anybody used this before?
