I have been using that version too since it came out, and it has been working flawlessly. Newer versions seem to have features I don't need, such as HDR support.

Dropped Frames using NNEDI3
Hey guys, I set up madVR and did all the settings. I have a decent hardware, enough to use nnedi3 but still I get dropped frames most of the times. I believe madVR is not using Intel instead of nVidia. Any solutions?
System: Asus G551V Game Series. nVidia Geforce GTX960m, 16 Gig Ram, Core i7 CPU. Software: MPC-HC 1.7.10 madVR09021 LAV Filters FFDSHOW I installed 64bit but then I changed everything to 32bit. Settings: I did everything based on ezoden. http://www.ezoden.com/htpc/4/how-to-...c-introduction I'm not using reclock or Avisynth. |

i´m having some strange random freezing/crashing after pausing or seeking the video
i don´t know how to reproduces because is very random but with some especifics x265 files occurs more... happens on mpc-hc and mpc-be x86 also occurs when i tag files that have wrong framerate metada... sometimes all freez until i restart my pc sometimes the image freezes but the audio continue to play... but i have to restart the pc because can control nothing edited actually its not a file problem, the freeze/crashing occurs every time i pause a movie on FSE the only way to pause without crashing is exiting to windowed mode and pausing using laest lav madvr and mpc-hc on windows 8.1 x64, GPU nvidia 930m driver 368.29 maybe this started to happen after the last windows update 3 days ago but i can t say exactly because i thought was random crashes but discovered that is not...

FYI, the latest NVidia drivers may produce some issues when MFAA and/or DSR are enabled by forcing the Task Scheduler service and those reliant on that service to shut down. It does not affect all systems. In my case I get Received Bad Stub or Bad Stub errors

Generally speaking, if you do anything else than madVR, nvidia 1080 is unbeatable. Ati brags about beating nvidia GTX 1080 with 2 cards in crossfire, but madVR doesn't work with SLI or with Crossfire, this is important to keep in mind. Short story is that best quality you can achieve is by going for GTX1080, if you also do gaming. If you use lower settings and no 4k, or you don't do gaming, you can settle for GTX 1070 or GTX980 or GTX 970, even lower. Depends on your needs.

I have been recently seeing a weird behavior where avg render times are increasing 5-10 seconds into any scene (say from 34ms to 38-39ms). What's weird though is, if I start the playback few seconds later, the scene that had increased render time previously is fine, but now next scene gets the hit and so on. So it looks like something is happening over time that is bringing up the render time and seems unrelated to a given scene.
I am doing nnedi32 luma doubling for 1080->2160(23.976), and sharpen edges + enhance detail + deringing is on. Has anyone seen this? Any quick tips I can try first? |

I have seen the render times increase like that when the video card starts declocking, either due to temperature or something else.

I just bought an hp laptop with Amd A8-7410 apu and R5 m330 graphics.
What would be the best settings for MadVr? I am going to play 1080p on it only. The laptop's display is 720p but i am going to connect it to my sony tv which is 1080p with 200hz refresh rate. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk |

one question
has anyone compared any HDR demos on a HDR tv and compared the picture quality to what you get here with madvr? i have a feeling that you can adjust the picture for HDR better here than what you can do from the HDR TVs which is more locked. it would be cool to see some comparision photos from madvrs HDR performance and the tvs native. also does the new GTX 1080 cards play hevc decoded videos smooth ? the only problem here with the HDR demos is that they are a jerky with a GTX780 card one more suggestion for HDR is if its possible to add the APL (average pixel level) information? it seems that APL on most of the LG demos are higher than what UHD movies is at. UHD movies are graded around 100 nits APL only but the LG demos are way to bright overall i think you can darken or brighten the picture with different peak brightness settings but i dont think its the right thing to do? if you choose an higher peak brightness than the tv or monitor has the picture gets darker overall but you also loose details in the highlights right? Different thing: For my eyes the 0.90.21 has more saturated highlights, then the 0.90.17, for me the latter one is more realistic and looks better. In case Sony HDR demo, the clouds at sunset are too yellowish with 0.90.21, it would be fine to have an option to set up the compressed highlight's saturation manually. Question for madshi: Which is your reference HDR video? |
