The general recommendation from our FAQ and Guide is to capture analog video into digital video at the largest resolution possible by your Analog -> Digital hardware.
I'm not aware of any PC-based capture equipment able to capture at the resolution you're suggesting. But my ignorance of the existence of such equipment does not mean that sort of equipment is a fantasy. You may be aware of something that I am not. But if your question is about analog capture of DVD sources, my recommendation is simply, don't. Instead, I would recommend keeping it in digital video format (MPEG-2 720x576/720x480). The process of Digital -> Analog -> Digital will introduce loss, regardless of capture resolution. |
