Perhaps it could enable the workarounds by default like it did in the past. Not always, but just when first GOP was skipped.

The workaround breaks spec compliant files so that's a no-go.

Does anyone know what could be the reason for getting a LAV filters setting window with half of that hidden?
Both in Kodi itself and in Windows' tray most of the LAV settings windows are covered by part of the grey window inside of which the settings are located and hence cannot be modified.

I hope someone else also encountered with such a problem.

The bug is only on Windows 7. If you are on Windows 10 just ignore my last post.

It seems to happen sometimes if your Windows is running an Asian locale, for some reason that screws up font rendering of ordinary "western" fonts. Outside of that, I haven't really received much complaints about the settings page going wrong.

Only this way because on my HTPC there is no usable application exists other than wordpad.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: solved by modifying some display settings in Windows.
Thank you again for your time.

Glad you have it solved. Care to tell what fixed it (for others with same problem)?

The problem was solved on my Windows 10 System as follows:

in display settings window of the OS (entering by right-clicking on the desktop) under Display and "sizing and arrangement" part, "modifying the size of text, applications and other elements" should be set to a lower value. E.g. I had to set it to 150% from 300% to be able to modify the settings in LAV Video window inside Kodi Kripton. After the required modifications are done in LAV Video, you should set it back to the required value otherwise all your icons will use that smaller size (for me it was a big problem because I am currently using a 49' 4K TV as a display on which I prefer larger icons.)

@nevcairiel

In case of decoding main12 content is there no chance for GPU assistance? You stated through DXVA there isn't but what about CUVID? Whatever settings I use the active decoder is "avcodec" in LAV Video for such sources. Using DGDecNV it is possible to feed main12 content to an encoder without dithering using my GTX1060.

Set LAV Video deinterlacing to aggressive.

I think what P.J. meant was "why isn't LAV correctly detecting the video as interlaced?" MediaInfo does.
Having to manually change a setting for specific videos isn't optimal.
I think this is an ffmpeg decoding problem, maybe submit a bug report there?

If "aggressive" works, then the video is probably just encoded faulty. It happens all the time. Aggressive basically means that it was detected as interlaced at least once, but then went back to being flagged as progressive - which is generally a sign of bad encoding.

I reported this issue to MPC-BE decoder and they fixed it.
Hope Lav fixes it too =/

Mixed 1080p/25 and 1080i/25 is valid for a UK HDTV broadcast over DVB-T2.

If it's encoded properly then that's not a problem. The progressive parts will be detected as progressive, and interlaced as interlaced. It's only a problem if it's not done properly.

But it's not mixed.

LAV Mixing Questions

Hi, so I am trying to use the LAV Audio mixer to mix down 6.1/7.1 audio to 5.1, preferably without losing audio information and just dropping channels. What do I need to set the center mix, surround mix, and LFE mix levels sliders to, and what exactly do these settings do? Can I ensure that all of the information in the 6.1/7.1 is folded down into the 5.1?
Also this may be a long shot here but for the ffdshow audio mixer, if I take 5.1 audio and mix down to 2.0, are all the channels in the 5.1 mix carried over to the 2.0 mix, including the LFE channel?
