Does anyone have a copy of StarWars SE Laserdisc?

If you do, can you check to see if you get some chroma blooming at time index 52.34.09, chapter 31, side 2 of StarWars. Look for sudden changes in the color saturation in Lea's face.

I noticed that my DVD rip had this chroma issue and was quite pissed to think that I put in all that time to capture the vid and the 5.1 audio sound track and then thinking that my cap hardware was flaky. I went back to the original laserdisc and find the problem is in the LD mastering. I doubt that it is the player, as I can single step the LD and the demarcation is very apparent - it is in the source.

Thanks,

T

Oh, but it might be !!

Only way to find out, is to FIND another LD player (or borrow)

I know it's hard to believe this, but it COULD very well be YOUR LD
player (brand or model etc) I do have an suggestion though..

Go to this vcdhelp and ASK for a sample clip there of this scene.
You should be able to get one in know time !!

There is a very good thread that you might like to frequent for now
on (see LINK below) Lots of peoples there, doing what you are doing,
and more. Ask for flaninacupboard as he has some very good
quality samples he has posted. I still have the two samples he posted
(though I'm sure he has improved since)

vhelp -

My LD player is relativly new, 3-4yrs old. It is a Pioneer Combi player, DVL-919. I do not see this problem on DVD's (which it what I primarily watch these days). I'll check out dvdrhelp later tonight....

Thanks
