Okay, so maybe this seems dumb, but ...

I've an external Pioneer SATA BD burner with USB3.0 capable case and two other external drives limited to USB2.0. I want to see how much (if any) advantage there is to running the BD drive with USB3.0 rather than 2.0. My tests so far consist of decrypting DVDs (both external and internal ATA NEC DVD burners) and surface scanning BDs, but haven't indicated much more than a 10% boost with the BD drive USB3.0.

My guess is the higher data rate capability of BD is more likely to demonstrate an advantage for USB3.0, but I'm so far unable to come up with suitable software to drive such a test (surface scanning doesn't appear to work). Can anyone suggest a utility that would likely show a worthwhile difference between BD drive USB3.0 Vs USB2.0?

Thanks much !

A BD's max datarate is 54 mbit/s (read) and USB2's is 480 mbit nominal, ~240 mbit/s actual. So USB2 by far exceeds the possible write speed of your writer and USB3 won't make any difference.
