Question

Creating a VCD from a single AVI file is pretty much a pain in the ass - it may involve numerous procedures like separating the Audio from the Video, encoding the Video and encoding the Audio, adding Subtitles, creating chapters and menues and wasting almost always twice space than what we need for the AVI file.

My question is, when will the DVD manufactures will descover that the player which will be able to play AVI vcd's will rule the market and save us allot of time and effort ?
Maybe I'm unaware - but does a player like this exists already?
