Multisession in DVD

I've just burned a multisession DVD+R (closed, UDF filesystem), but it's entirely readable in Win2k/XP AND by the DVD writer ONLY. My DVD-ROM reads nothing but the first session. (That's not an old DVD-ROM, bought in early 2003)

Would it be different if:
* I use DVD-R instead?
* I use ISO9660/Joliet instead?
* I use a DVD-ROM manufactured in Feb 2004 to read?

Thanks for any suggestion!

Computers always read the last session.
e.g. CD Players always read the first session.
