Hi there Atak. I am really stuck and wonder if you can help. I use your program alot and find it amazing but everything i encode to 1080p always goes wrong. I either end up with a H264 error message or the file encodes fine but the audio cuts out half way through the movie.
This happens for alot of files not just a perticular one. Is there a known problem when encoding to 1080p. Alot of the times i am down sampling the audio from DTS to AC3.
Any help would be really appritiated.
Many thanks again for such a great program.

Ok... I am using MKV files that are 1080p. I am encoding to BluRay. I have to add borders using the option in the software and then i set ripbot to encode. Now when complete the file is usually around the 7.6gb mark and ends up with part audio missing. If i try to run it through tsmuxergui to add chapters it comes back as buffer overflow. Possible container streams are not syncronized.
Also some times when re encoding to bluray i get a windows error box pop up saying x264 has encountered an error.
Does this make sense ???

Sample Chapter list

This was created by eac3to.exe using the GUI on -demux mode:

Code:
CHAPTER01=00:00:00.000
CHAPTER01NAME=
CHAPTER02=00:04:58.000
CHAPTER02NAME=
CHAPTER03=00:07:28.500
CHAPTER03NAME=
CHAPTER04=00:18:02.166
CHAPTER04NAME=
CHAPTER05=00:21:15.833
CHAPTER05NAME=
CHAPTER06=00:23:55.666
CHAPTER06NAME=
CHAPTER07=00:32:15.166
CHAPTER07NAME=
CHAPTER08=00:41:07.833
CHAPTER08NAME=
CHAPTER09=00:43:41.000
CHAPTER09NAME=
CHAPTER10=00:53:46.833
CHAPTER10NAME=
CHAPTER11=01:06:58.333
CHAPTER11NAME=
CHAPTER12=01:12:03.333
CHAPTER12NAME=
CHAPTER13=01:19:08.000
CHAPTER13NAME=
CHAPTER14=01:24:35.833
CHAPTER14NAME=
CHAPTER15=01:27:24.333
CHAPTER15NAME=
CHAPTER16=01:32:12.833
CHAPTER16NAME=
This is in a file named "chapters.txt" Another disc I tried last week had names appearing in the CHAPTERxxNAME= line. But I am focused on the actual timing, not the chapter names.

Also, I am trying to convert a 1080p vc1 source to a 1080p h.264 source (using RipBot). Everything seems to work fine. But, after a large number of hours (8+), the x264.exe process drops to 0% cpu utilization, while using over 1GB of system ram. The processor is in Idle and has been for over an hour. It looks like the program has stalled out. Any idea what to check to see if it stalled out or is just working VERY slow?

Having a problem with audio from a camera-based MJPEG (avi) with PCM audio.

Programs says it's demuxing, says it's converting LPCM to FLAC and then when it gets to it, says NO Audio. I have also tried converting audio to a number of different formats with avidemux but RipBot still says No Audio.

I did, in desperation, try SUPER which worked flawlessly but have since uninstalled which may be causing some issues. I have reinstalled the latest 1.9.4 installer and avisynth 2.5.7 since then.

Anything I can do to fix the problem?

Show me log.

Make sure that you use wmv9 decoder instead of libavcodec

Remux source with TSMuxer

Ok, thanks. It's not me then.

Happened to try Staxrip in the meantime, the encoded file came out with slowed down audio (something else to sort out )but it left the .wav file handy so I'm now trying RipBot with it. Encoding atm.

I assume new version will be when it's done?

Edit2: Cutting the track out with avidemux (as I use it as my initial clip editor) works a treat it seems. Besides the little audio problem, everything looks sweet. Nowhere to donate?

Well, after experimenting a little with Virtualdub, I discovered the issue with the encodes. I am using WMV9 to decode. However, encoding a 1920X1080 to a mjpg (I have a comercial version that is incredibly fast) at 1920X1080 with the MSU denoise filer (set at 75,35) was going to take 2 days, 22 hours and some minutes. So, if you add any additional work (i.e. re-encoding to h264), you're looking at encoding times beyond belief! Just a side effect of the resolution and my processor speed I guess. After all, 1920X1080 is 6 times the pixelcount per frame.

I'm trying a similar encode but with a 1280X720 resize, which should cut down the encoding time by about half.

Just going to try out the denoiser with some older movies - but there are no profiles for this in the profiles directory. Where can i get the 2 denoiser profiles mentioned on page 1 or how do i activate denoising? Thx.

Jamd1,

Once you load the video, click "Properties." The denoise function and profiles are on the third page of properties. This is VERY slow. However, it is PHENOMINAL! in what it can do to clean a noisy source.

To see the original source and an example (using SD video) the website is:
http://compression.ru/video/denoising/index_en.html

I love this filter, especially since they got GPU functionality added. The old one was VERY slow, even on DVD/ SD sources. The only problem is 720X480 video is only .3 megapixels perframe, while HD is 2.1 megapixels, a 700% increase in resolution and pixel count, meaning a very slow process for HD video. But if you have the processor (or time) to support it, this is an incredible way to clean film grain without sacrificing detail.

Syntax Problems

I used the installer, and it seems to work fine.

The program will generate a job1_EncodeVideoPass1.cmd with syntax that needs to be edited every time in order to work. It happens no matter what the settings seem to be in the gui (CQ/2Pass/etc)

"E:\RipBot264v1.9.4\tools\x264\x264.exe" "E:\Temp\RipBot264temp\job1\job1.avs" --crf 22 --level 4.1 --sar 1:1 --aud --nal-hrd --vbv-bufsize 14000 --vbv-maxrate 25000 --filter 0,0 --ref 3 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --b-pyramid --b-rdo --bime --weightb --direct auto --subme 6 --trellis 1 --analyse all --8x8dct --me umh --threads auto --thread-input --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim --output "E:\Temp\RipBot264temp\video.264"

Hi

first of all: I like RipBot very much
I tried doing the hole thing by myself (setting up a avisynth script and start x264 with right parameters)
but it didn't work out.
So RipBot is my choice.

There are just some little things, I would like to know:
i edited the .ini so that the iPod/iPhone profile is default.
When I convert a Video, I klick on "Add", search the Video, and then there is the "tricky" part: I need to resize my videos.
Because I have to do this with a lot of files, it would be nice if I could add the resize option
to the iPod/iPhone profile. That would save me 50% of klicks.

And it would also be nice, if there would be an option "convert all movies in directory xxxx".
If that would be possible, and RipBot would use the default profile with the resize, that would be almost perfect !

So if anything could be done, I would be very thankfull.

I am having trouble with Blu-rays that have True sound HD. Ripbot converts the sound to a continuos buzz. If I remux the .m2ts first ,downsampling the audio to ac3 with TSmuxer then Ripbot cuts the audio demuxing short ( by different amounts on every attempt- sometimes after 1min - sometimes after 5 or 7?????). Is there any way around this? thx.

Hi atak any chance of adding a few more options to the gui please ?
1. custom cqm option
2 dead zones options
3 b-frame mode option
4 and maybe --fgo
5 aq strength
or if not a custom cmd line would be great
It would make it easier for me and others not to have to edit the job
cmd files all the time for e.g low dead zones for grain preservation
perhaps these options could be hidden from the average user and available to the more advanced user by editing the ini file like a hidden section
I know i could use megui but i like the way ripbot makes thing easy
by doing your muxing and working out bitrate and m2ts overhead thanks

Hi, thanks for the program, I've found it excellent in calculating bluray output with AC3 and srt.

However I've been having some oversize issues using DTS and bluray output. The two different movies I've tested so far have been 63-64 MB oversized. Both used target sizes of 4480MB(720p) and 8150MB(1080p). Could more accurate calculations with DTS to bluray output possibly be looked into?

Also, is there any plans for sup (original subs tsmuxer and xport+ spit out) support? In the 5 tests I've done I've concluded: <sum of all sup files> + 2-3 MB per sup file = m2ts file size increase.

I'll continue to do more tests. If more results and\or more accurate results could help I'm more than willing to share.

In my above problem getting Ripbot to fully demux the audio from a remuxed .m2ts - the only way i could do it was split the 2 hour movies into 6 parts and ripbot each part - then join the re-encoded files back together. The 2 blu-ray movies with TrueHD sound i had problems with were "Across The Universe" and "Welcome To The Jungle". Whenever rejoining .m2ts files there is always a glitch on the join. Rather than joining and remuxing .m2ts files are there any tools to make a .mpls playlist for a reauthored bluray that will play the separate .m2ts files seamlessly.

Well I have a dual boot xp/vista setup. I rarely use vista but I thought I'd try Ripbot out with my problem movies. Surprise- The audio demux ran through perfectly first time. The only thing that was changed In my setup was that I installed the latest beta of ffdshow on vista (on xp I have the latest stable Dec07 version). Is this likely a Vista benefit or could the later ffdshow be the reason it worked?
