Grab the latest MP4Box devbuild by Celtic Druid, released a few hours ago. It should include new (experimental, and thus maybe a bit buggy) functionalities for joining and splitting MP4 files.
Further details on how they work here.

split and join should also work with quicktimepro and uleads videostudio8 with the mpeg-4 plugin (i never tested the later one)

also beaware that mp4box split and join option hasnt been tested at all, so it might be very buggy

can quicktime even handle AVC in MP4? After all, the AVC supporting QuickTime 7 is not finished yet.

i now tested mp4box' splitting/concatenating option and there seem to be indeed a bunch of issues

splitting works fine on most samples but not on all, concatenating(appending) leads to a wrong framerate to be used on all samples i tried so its not useable till now

edit: typos (thx algern0n ;P )
