History x264
I've some questions about the history of x264:
1) I guess fenrir started with the development from scratch. If so, when (I saw the name popping up on 05-12-2004 in this forum)? 2) Why is it called "x264"? Is it the x from XviD? 3) Where/when is the official first announcement of x264? Since it was not in this forum, I assume it was somewhere else? |

![]() As for the name, it's maybe a reference to XviD, but possibly not. After all, the "x" is present in the name of a lot of technology-related projects. |
