Thanks for the links IgorC,

I wonder why they like muxing Mpeg4 AVC/AAC content into the .mpeg container and not .MP4?

A definite no brainier and step backwads... if you ask me!

Cheers

currently moonlight's player (directshow based btw) only supports the .mpg container (and raw .264 streams afaik)
but as discussed in the container forum, moonlight is working on a .mp4 splitter and muxer for directshow, so it seems they might join the .mp4 train too (like ahead, envivio and sorenson for example)

howdy everybody,

A bit of warning here:

i've demuxed their sample "Tomsk_720x576_900kbit\ \(v720\).mpg",
and fed the h264 stream into latest h264 reference software (jm92).
The result is:

[EDIT]
... uninteresting crap deleted ...

@skal: How strange...
I know you must see Peter Gubanov's posts on the JVT mailing lists and he always seems quite savvy on all issues with h264. I'll try to double check it too

How's your h264 project going?

oops... you're right. It seems i indeed missed something in
the demuxing process. Using ffmpeg gives me a "more" correct
bitstream.

There only seem to be petty errors with unintentional loss of
pictures (gap_in_frame_number_not_allowed) at frame #30, dixit
jm92. That's affordable...

How's your h264 project going?

I've just found a chemical binary weapon! When you mix MBAff with
FR-Ext, it... explodes!

@skal:
Hi, even if they're petty, you could always post them on the JVT mailing list or directly to moonlight, i'm sure they'd do their best to fix them...(if they don't know about them already)

Your even onto the Frext extensions hey? Nice work...I know you're closed source on this project, but any chance of seeing a demo encoder in the future? Or is it all going to be bought up by some firm?
(Not that i'm nosey or anything )

Anyway, good luck with it I hope they're aren't too many explosions along the way...

-Nic

Cyberlink releases PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition

Saw this over at CDFreaks but didn't see it mentioned here.

Cyberlink PowerEncoder Mpeg-4 AVC Edition

It's $40 and I've never used any version of PowerEncoder before, but it looks like there's going to be a lot of these products out there soon. I'm looking for a demo but I can't seem to find one.

Includes Moonlight H.264 apparently

And quite rightly so

Has anybody bought it/tried the "full" version yet?

Cheers
