Elta 8883 = 179€
Ascomtec 3004 = 130€

Now if I could find the Ascomtec I'd buy one right away!

Does this player have built in DTS Surround decoding? one of the ebay adverts seemed to indicate it does!

Also does it have DVD-Audio support?

Thanks

Unfortunately Top_Cat, until someone on the forum has acknowledged to owning one of these players, we'll never know for sure!

Cheers

i guess this player is only available in spain
but
as it uses the mediatek chip you just have to look after a player that uses this chip too, also for other features like dts decoding you will only have to check if another mediatek using player can handle it

the important thing is the chip in the first place, than the firmware, than the other hardware features imho...

Top_Cat raises a good question though.

The Elta 8883 clearly states that it can handle DVD Audio. But unless I missed something (again), there was no mention of this with the Gran Prix!

Cheers

Yep, if I knew exactly where to obtain one of these players, I could ask my parents to bring one over to the UK when they visit us for Christmas.

Cheers

Ascomtec DVD-3004 Sale Date

I called Ascomtec today (04/12/03) and they told me that the DVD-3004 will start shipping on the 15th December.

I will see if I can get one from the Canary Islands as soon as they have it there.

All the best,

Sharro

@ Top_Cat, SeeMoreDigital

AFAIK you can only buy the elta one online at http://shop.plus.de/is-bin/INTERSHOP...talogID=Z0349B at the moment. But they only ship to Germany as it seems .

EDIT: Oops....I've just realized that Doom9 had already posted that three days ago.

I found the Arcane player here that seems to have the same spec:
http://www.techstore.co.uk/browse.ph...odLineID=37803

But at £179.00 inc. VAT which seems far to high to me but I guess you get the advantage to being one of the first to own it. Anyone know anything about this player?
