I also noticed a new reg settings on this page HERE

Quote:
DWORD: DVDDestSize Default: 4424
Size InstantCopy tries to reach for the destination medium in MB

DWORD: DVDDestDisplaySize Default: 4424
Size InstantCopy uses to determine if the contents of the disc
fit or wont fit on a recordable disc in MB

DWORD: DVDVideoSaveBorder Default: 2
Unsecurity in percent of the transcoding process
[/B]
DVDVideoSaveBorder is interesting cos it looks like a black bar issue, trying it on Road To Perdition now

p.s. LOL "Phantom cell sets" fixed , like the quotes round Phantom Pinnacle, whatever gave you that idea?

batch processing now available HERE
download the file HERE

the missing MB's do now work on my example DVD I sent them

not so sure with other DVD'S tho, cos it looks the same as before

a known problem DVD showing 6.77Gb instead of 7.05Gb still shows 6.77Gb

if you wanna get it to set to the max for a blank DVD (4489MB)automatically then set the reg settings to these

DWORD: DVDDestSize Default: 1189 (4489)
Size InstantCopy tries to reach for the destination medium in MB

DWORD: DVDDestDisplaySize Default: 1189(4489)
Size InstantCopy uses to determine if the contents of the disc
fit or wont fit on a recordable disc in MB

you could set them lower to be safer, but I like a risk

Excellent news! I've been checking their site almost daily. I miss a couple of days and here it is. Thanks for the update! I've got a three movies to backup that I'll be trying this with.

exactly the same undersizing result with Road To Perdition

came out at 3.38GB

it did predict 4.37Gb with menu @50% and Title 1 at 86% with 5.1 sound (nothing else) but got nowhere near

gonna adjust the DVDVideoSaveBorder setting and see what happens

but this is no good cos what if other titkes are different ratios ????????

not the sizing fix I was expecting

to be safe (even though it's a crap shoot with IC7 anyway) I'd go for 4480MB
Blank DVD-R 4,489MB 4,706,074,624 bytes or 4.383GB
Blank DVD+R 4,483MB 4,700,372,992 bytes or 4.377GB

road to perdition: keep trying MackemX.. We/I appreciate your efforts.

the saving the settings don't work either

you save the settings (F6) and when you reload them (F7) it remembers which titles and audio/subs you selected but not the percentages

it just does an automatic resize and equally distributes the reduction on the menu/titles

so far, not so good an update as what I initially thought it was gonna be

you mean F7 to load settings not F8 right? typo

o F5 : Enable the OK button ignoring all size issues
o F6 : Saves the currently selected percentages/titles/streams for this DVD
o F7 : Load (if previously saved) settings for this DVD

somebody noted that this new version registers everytime it starts a regtool application to run at start-up in startup folder of windows. If you look to properties of shortcut you will see that target is your serial number.....

O yeah registry entry DVDsavequality is also gone...

mmmm... wonder why they do this

I tried a DVDVideoSaveBorder of 50 and it came out at 3.30Gb with exactly the same % settings as before

so its smaller!!! cos the default of 2 produced 3.38Gb

oh well, maybe next time

yes.... it took me 1 hour and 45mins for 6.2GB main movie only. Usually that'd take about 3 hours. So I say yes to the 33% increase in speed.

With the "main movie only" scenario:
Was the sizing closer to 4.37? Any visual improvements?

it's faster but at what cost?

as for sizing, how come Pinnacle have released it saying beter use of 4.37Gb yet it don't work

it may give better results for 1.85:1 etc but not 2.35:1. We'll see

I'v try'd the same film three times.ENOUGH 16:9 anamorphic.
1st time i left all extras in ect,a full 1:1 copy setting the slide bar to 4.31.Size when finished 4.7.
2nd time move only leaving the slide bar at 4.31 came out at 4.40
3rd time same as the 1st full 1:1 but dropped the slide bar down to 4.2,size it can out 4.24.
So now instead of oversizing to get a nice tight fit,i'm having to undersize to get it some where near.

I,m gonna try another disc to see what happens there.

You got to be kidding, It's been 3 months after this program has been released and it still can't size accurately

Have they not noticed their competitors programs size within 5%

I give up all hope with these people.

You FAIL to forget that IC does not apply constant transcoding quality to the movie but adjusts it according to the complexity of each part of the mpeg stream. It is easy to calculate the space required when you use constants, but it is not that easy when you don't know in advance exactly how much transcoding is used for the entire mpeg stream.
