Tool SVCD2DVDMPG: DVD compliant MPGs from SVCDs

I have written a win32 .Net GUI which produces DVD compliant elementry streams or program streams for mpg2. So given a folder with say 5 x 800MB .bin svcd images it will produce either 5 x mpg (48Khz, DVD resolution) or 5 x mpv/mpa ES sets (48Khz, DVD resolution) in about 30-45 mins. These can then be used in your dvd authoring apps of choice.

The app is just a GUI wrapper for other command line apps like vcdxrip, mpgtx & besweet - all credit goes to those authors. It just means that to get dvd compliant assets from .bin files takes one mouse click!

Anyway, it works for me but there is still some work to do if it was to be made public. I will do that additional work if there is enough interest... let me know.

Details here

Thank you for the software, im not sure if i used the correct settings but i was kind of hoping i would end up with 1 dvd comlpliant m2v and mpa which i have but i have a set for each bin(3 bin in total)is this correct? If so any idea how i can get them to play one after the other in spruce without the use of a menu.

The tool does as it claims:

Quote:
- rip SVCD .bin images to mpgs
- demux mpgs to elementary streams (ES)
- resample the audio ES from 44.1 KHz to 48 KHz (via .wav)
- patch the video ES to DVD horizontal resolution
- optionally remux the ES streams into a mpg program stream (PS)
- Repatch VOB files after DVD authoring
it doesn't join the mpegs for the very reason that if you do then 99% of the time the resulting mpeg will be out of sync(video/audio).

You have 4 choices to do what you want.

- Use IfoEdit to Author & join multiple VTSs http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.
- Use IfoEdit to manipulate the .ifo files produced by SpruceUp http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44779
- Use DVD Movie Factory (if you have mpegs with the same bitrate)
- Use DVD Maestro

Look @ my guide for further details. http://www.garveycocker.com?svcd2dvdmpg

ChrissyBoy, I just installed svcd2dvdmpg and was going to give it a try but I'm wondering why it is in my pop-up menus now? That seems a little intrusive to me...when I want to run it I'd rather just start it the standard way.

Can I remove it from the pop-up menus but still use the program?

Great idea by the way, and thanks for putting it out.

Each to their own.

Delete the followinh registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\(S)VCD2DVDMPG

Then just start the program from the install directory.

I have been testing out your program and it seems to be working pretty good. There is just a few things I would like to see done with it to make it better.

1.) When you run the program it disables everything even when it's done. So you can't start another run unless you close it and reopen it. I'd like to be able to use it again without closin and reopening it.
2.) It doesn't check to see if the audio is already 48000Hz sample rate. It would be nice if it didn't re-encode if it already was.
3.) And the system menu would probably be better off as an option in the program itself instead of automatically placing it during install for the few people who don't like that.
4.) And maybe some batch processing is an idea.

Cheers ChrissyBoy! Good work.

How about a list of DVD players that have worked with DVD-SVCDs.

My pioneer 343 plays the files in half-screen mode, otherwise it worked great. Played through a software player on my computer everything was perfect.

So has anyone had success with the Pioneer 343? Just wondering if it was something I did wrong, of if my player doesn't like the format. The fact that a software player had no trouble with it suggests that the 343 just isn't going to work.

I tried both repatched and unrepatched files. Anything else I could try.

Excellent little piece of software by the way.

When I try to use this progam...I point the working directory to where my .mpg file (ripped from vcd with VCDEasy) is and when I try to start the program I get a pop-up message which says "Directory does not exist". Could someone please write a step by step guide on how to use this program? Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong? My directory (where I stored the mpg file) is D:\Movie\cd1
