Problem: ogm-file with ac3 and ogg audio

Hi Everybody!

I have muxed an ogm-file that contains one Audio-Stream in AC3 and another in ogg-audio.
But if i Play the file in mediaplayer the AC3-Stream can`t be deselected. It is always selected.

Is there another Player that can handle this or is it a problem of the ogm-filters?

I might have lost track of this issue but it was my understanding that AC3 couldn't be muxed properly with Ogg. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Have you tried any other players besides WiMP? Also, if you successfully muxed the AC3 into the Ogg container; how are you confirming it's AC3 and not PCM data?

it is an AC3-Stream!!! The Size matches like it should be.
I've muxed it with a little trick.
First i muxed the AC3-Stream and the Video to an AC3-Avi
then in graphedit i demuxed the avi to a ogm-file (but whithout the avi-ac3-filter) then you have a ac3-stream in an ogm-file!!!
every other ogm whith 2 languages in ogg format play very well in WMP6.4.

well, if you think twice about your 'little trick' it should be quite obvious why you cant deselect your AC3 audio

i've muxed the ogm as 3 streams (not 1 avi-out and 1 ogg)
there was 1 video-stream, 1 ac3-stream (if i use the avi-ac3-filter the ac3 would be decoded to pcm befor muxed to the ogm)
and at least the ogg-audio-stream
if i play the file i can see 3 streams under languages but can deselect none of them
if i muxed it with 3 audio-streams (including 1 ac3) i can select 1 of the both ogg-audio-stream but the video and the ac3-stream are selected everytime

Just a comment. Perhaps the avi-ac3-filter isn't able to decode AC3 from an OGM stream. Why dont you try to install an alternate AC3 decoding filter such as Elecard Odio Dekoda or Intervideo AC3?

the avi-ac3-filter is not for decoding the ac3-file!!!
therefore i use the intervideo-ac3-filter
in an ac3-avi-file the avi-ac3-filter is used befor the intervideo-ac3-filter!!
the ogm-file whith ac3-audio plays audio
the decoding is no problem, i hear audio
it is only, if i muxed ac3 and ogg into ogm i can not deselect the ac3-stream while watching the movie.

So it seems ur able to mux ac3 and avi in an ogg, and thats what I'm looking for, as if I mux them in OggMux, I can ear audio, but its not ac3 its stereo (in used codecs I cant see Intervideo, but DirectSound)
So to make an ogg with 1 file Video avi and 1 file audio AC3 I must mux them in nandub as usual and the create the ogg.
And it works, but why ???

I guess that's because the ac3 gets wav-headers in nandub.

You may be so kind and help me tracking the issue down:

use graphedit to mux your avi+ac3 into an ogm.
use following procedure:

insert file writer into graph, give the final name.
insert ogg multiplexer filter into the graph, and connect the output pin to the filewriter.

now choose the menu "file -> render mediafile" and open your avi.
After that, do the same with your ac3.

Does it connect correctly?
Play the graph and see the resulting movie - should have the same problems as oggmux since oggmux exactly works that way.

now if you could find some wav-multiplexer filter in the filter-list, try to disconnect the ac3 from the oggmux filter. connect the ac3-source with the input-pin of the wav-"multiplexer". connect that output pin with the last input-pin of the ogg multiplexer filter.

run the graph, the file should be fine as described remuxing such a nandub-created avi.

The problem is, I don't know of such a wav-filter that adds wav-headers to a bitstream.

I hope this helped.

Regards,
Koepi

Ahh ok. I'll try it at home this evening...,
but there is something that I cant understand...
how can the Intervideo kick in if there is a wav-header ?

As we'r talking Koepi, should u add a split at 800mb ?
A custom one should be better, but 800 is ok.

I've filters pack installed (iviaudio & mpeg audio) but graphedit
says "Could not construct a graph from this file"
I think I also need an ac3 file parser or something similar.
I've manually made a graph by adding an "Ac3 file parser" spawned by mpg2splt.ax (version says from microsoft)
ac3 playback this way is really crappy, my ext ac3 decoder light blinks (!).
AC3 from AVI XFORM (mpegaudio.ax) seems to be only compatible with "Avi Splitter" (just look at the name of the filter
Then no way to render ac3 file directly?
I've the graph in attach
