Yeah! My sleep schedule is being staggered again. BTW, I'm hiding behind my invisible (cool)loak.

MenuShrink accepts any VOB or IFO as argument. However, if you select an IFO (any IFO) or VIDEO_TS.VOB, all menu VOBs will be automatically selected for processing (look in advanced options). But if you select a VTS_XX_0.VOB, only that titleset will be selected.
It's a feature I have asked jeanl to add so that MenuShrink is easlly installable and partially configurable in the Tools menu of PgcEdit.

Before I reinstalled from my crash, I couldn't get my VOB to open with VobEdit in Explorer's open with feature. Now, I can get to work with "open with" and "send to".
It may be because your registry entries pointing to these special folders were wrong or damaged. Anyway, it's necessary to reinstall Windoze from time to time, to fix that kind of damaged setups. Thanks, Bill Gates!

all thanks to Bill Gates.

Here's Lark's menushrink record on lion king, R2. He takes number 3 with this one!

jeanl
P.S. Yeah, blutach, I know, there's probably previews in the menu domain which does not really count as a menu (because you can remove them with other tools). I agree I agree, but still (so to speak)!

thx jeanl.
actually this one had a year long intro clip for the main menu.
in addition the main menu is (well, was) way too long animation.
and on top of everything there was a pretty much dummy VOB for VMGM (i've seen similar in the incredibles). looks like disney just wants to use every single bit that's available on the dvd...

maybe we should have a separate category for disney DVDs...

edit: btw, what counts as unreferenced? what if it belongs to a pgc that's referenced, but never gets played (there is a pre command that always somewhere else)...?

Then it's referenced material. It doesn;t have to be played to be referenced. In fact, many titles are never played, because their precommands jump out of them.

Unbe^%$#lievable...

Check this one out:

That's "an american tail" R1 (kid movie).
I think I'm in #1 position (even though I'll admit there's more than just menus, lots of games and stuff in the menu domain).

Whatdoyousay?!

jeanl
P.S. Note: I even kept the audio!

You're absolutely right. If I remove everything possible with PgcEdit, I'm down to 1.2GB of menu. If I remove all the menus but the movie menu, then I'm down to 700MB (still, isn't that amazing, a KID movie!).
Anyway, I agree with you that only taking the size of the menu domain into account isn't very accurate / fair... But it makes for good entertainment!

MenuShrink Version 2.2 is here!

Version 2.2 has the following main new features:
  • You can keep some of the menus animated if you want to. The preview
panel has one more button to do that and tells you what the size of the original
menu cell is so you can decide whether to shrink it or not.
  • The progress bar has a much finer grain and no longer looks stuck when
    loading very large cells.
along with a couple bug fixes.
Get the new version at the usual place:
http://www.videohelp.com/~menushrink/
Make sure to refresh the download page to get version 2.2!

Here's the change log.

UI:
  • The progress bar has a much finer grain (no longer looks stuck when reading
    large cells)
  • There is a new "Keep" button in the preview panel, to keep a menu animated.
  • The preview panel now displays the size of the menu cell to help decide
whether to keep it or not.
Engine:
  • The engine now supports preserving animated menus.
  • MenuShrink now fixes the VTSM_VOBU_ADMAP table when it's not correct to begin with.
Bug Fixes:
  • Restore backup was behaving poorly when the backup directory hadn't been
    created yet.
  • The number of included SPUs (subpic units) has been increased from 1 to 4 per
cell. This should fix problems previously encountered in some (rare) DVDs
    (incredibles R4 for example).

Enjoy!
