Calling Kool(2COOL) & The Gang on perfection....

Hellos,

The one route I would like to take to reach Nirvana is this:

If a movie deserves(not many) a two-disk backup then I would use Shrink to re-author uncompressed without the menu and max it with enough space to insert a "Please insert Disc 2" title.
Then I would use VOBblanker to get into the whole decrypted file and start the slaughter, blanking this and that, of course blanking all the chapters that have already been burned into Disc One. I figured that if I have the time then I would watch the extras from Disc Two rather than having them residing on the first disc.
Finally I would use IFOedit or PGCedit to edit the First Play Command so that the 2nd part of the movie would start when loaded.

To a newer newbie than I, please don't ask how for I have been fumbling for months at DOOM9! Kool & The Gang are the gurus(Jsoto, rOIZ, 2COOL, et.al.) !!! One great suggestion though: if possible, try to print all of them guides which you newbies are interested to learn. I have and it helps, in spite of 2COOL's painstaking detailed guidance. Hey me brain needs multiple passes to comprehend, just like Shrink. Smooth or sharp, smooth or sharp....

Now the Q on PGCedit:
On the 2nd disk, now that I have blanked say 25 chapters and upon insert, the standalone would start skipping(counting) to 25 and start showing chapter 26. Well that how it's meant to do but is there a way to reduce those 25(or less) seconds lag? Obviously my "jumpTT to Title 1" edit command is not good enough....

Thanks in advance,

Here' one method to try.

1. Create a New Cell Command in your Title 1's Command Table

2. Your command will be
Code:
********** cell commands:
[20 05 00 00 00 00 00 1A] # LinkPTT Chapter 26
3. Double click on your Title 1 to get your PGC Editor

4. From chapters 1 to 25, insert into each "cell cmd" field in bottom half of window with the new cell command # you got in step 1.

5. save to test

Thanks for such prompt response, 2COOL. I see you are er...working as hard as I am(@work) .

Now think of Homer Simpson who in one of the episode, needing more oxygen after running for every 2-3 feet.

"1. Create a New Cell Command in your Title's Command Table"

er...where and how again?

I supposed you assumed that I know how, but believe me, I follow exactly to the word every instructional guidance you have published. So please elaborate/expand further.

Thanks,

One of your many faithfuls.

You mentioned Title 1. click on that in PGC Selection list. Right click on last existing cell command and select "Add After" you should get a NOP command. If you don't have any cell commands present, right click on *******Cell Commmands line and Add After.

To edit NOP command, Double click on that to bring up command editor. Go to Alphabetically > Link PTT. In PTT field, enter 26. Ok to set and exit.

Roger that, will try to-nite. Right now I'm er...hard at work.

By the way, I mentioned Title 1 not because I know what I am doing! More like, "what the hell, lets try 1...edit as necessary."

Feedback to follow.

Do I take it that chapters 26 - (end) have a 0 in their "cell cmd"?

Oh, and would the lazy man's way be to add as a final precommand in Title 1 (or whatever title it is):

Code:
[20 05 00 00 00 00 00 1A] # LinkPTT Chapter 26
Regards

Well, I had to cover my bases as Surf could've had chapter selections jumping directly to the chapters 1 to 25. they would've avoided your last pre command.

Success!

Upon insertion, the count from chap 1 to 25 became much quicker. Out of curiosity, I pressed the play button from the main menu, the countup is still the same old pace...25 seconds approx...? I didn't fool around further last nite for lack of time.

Anyway, thanks for such a great guidance. This would definitely help in backing up Mel's Passion in which there are what 40-50 chapters..?

Uuuhoo 2COOL, it's Dennis the menace again...

I was reading the printout of your "The Matrix" guide and the html guide on re-authored Shrink redo. It got me thinking(dangerously) .

How about a guide on de-activating buttons/choices in menus? Base on the above project, chapter 1-25 is not residing on Disc2 anymore. I could use your expertise as to how by using Remake, get the info when placing the mouse on the button and supplant it to a cell command.... I better get off the techno mumbo jumbo and explain in layman terms.

Lets say chapter 1-25 reside on the first 6 pages of the scene selection. If I don't do anything, clicking on scene selection would obviously take me to page one. How would thingamajig it to go to page 7 instead?

2COOL <<< my hero!
