Errors found in Beta 6:

a) Partial encoding doesn't work. it doesn't cut the right timeframe
b) if you encode something, then try to encode it again in a different format. An About box comes up and you have to restart the program to encode the same file again.

I can definitely confirm this one with the normal and P4 build.

How do you save the file you are encoding to a different folder? It will only save it in the source folder for me.

@Deckerr

In the FIle menu, select Save and choose a folder.

EDIT: I just tested what I said above and it doesn't work. Another bug?

I even checked the BeSweet Command Line from the Edit Menu and although the commandline had the correct output Path that I selected in the Save option, BeLight still saved my resulting .mp2 in the same folder as the source.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but the ac3 to mp2 preset uses Hybrid gain as the default this setting causes nothing but problems on mp2. when muxing with mpv/m2v etc the audio is fine for about 5 mins then cuts out have tested this on multiple files using various settings and it always comes down to hybrid gain where as pre gain works perfectly.

small request, would it be possible to store the presets in a ini file so we could use our own or edit the originals. ?

mmh...really strange. Can anyone have reproduce this ?

If it works with pregain, than use it instead of hybridgain.

if you use always the same settings for your own audio format, BeLight enables to remember your last settings when you (re)load it.

and my last sentence for Doom9... I hope you read it.

First of all, thank you for these great guides. If I had known that one day I would have seen my work on your website, I won't believe it...

So, I would like to point you some 2-3 notes :
  • For AAC :

    Quote:
Check Quality to select the encoding mode: Fast speeds up encoding at the expense of quality, and High does just the inverse.

The Fast & High Modes have the same speed up for encoding. The big difference is that the Fast Mode seems to use now a new encoding engine which gives the best results. That's why in the last BeLight beta I switch the AAC presets with this Mode.

  • For Vorbis :
First, I won't recommend to use OggDSF now. It's not updated and not developped anymore. For decoding, I would recommend to have the last CoreVorbis and to encode within BeSweet, I prefer to have the libvorbis.

  • In general : can I put a web link of your audio guides directly in my BeLight packages ?

btw,

I'll change the AAC thing.. I must admit I never bothered to test much. One thing though, what if you select no mode at all?

Did I? I thought I recommended libvorbis but it looks like I was wrong. I guess I should also replace the oggds filters on my site with something else. Any suggestions?

Certainly.

thxs for the reply i have a mate testing my findings at the moment, from what i seen its related to the header somehow because the files are exactly the same size. but when muxed together with the mpv/m2v behave diffrently.

i had noticed that it saves the settings however it does not respect those settings i have to deselect them then reselect them for instance i had pregain selected but it used hybrid gain also priority setting seems to always default back to high.

IIRC, bsn uses High Mode by default.
