what's the differences between .ts and .tp file formats?

I just bought a new brand multimedia HHD, it's code name is TVIX 6600N and it has a build dual tuner TV module.
It's suppose to be a player and a recorder too and when I set it up to record mode it saves a channel stream with a .tp extention instead of a more friendly to me .ts file format (transport stream).
Does any of you can explain me the main differences between those two files?

Thanks,
Stefano.

P.S.
will I be able to play them on my PC as well as I already can do with the .ts file format?

Hi!

You've apparently not made the slightest effort to search before posting here.

Try a simple Googlesearch for ".ts+.tp"...

.ts and .tp are the same format, just a different extension.

Also, searching for ".ts+.tp" on Google only brings up this post...

Only the producer knows the exact format of .TP. Lots of manufacturers use extentions to the .TS format (to include extra info). If the difference consists only in the extended header (recording date+time, title etc.) you can rename the .TP into .TS with no problems (the editors will drop the extra info).
The check the 100% compatibility one need just to load a regular .TS file, but renamed as .TP, into your DVIX and see if it's played.
In addition to what setarip_old said (no search), you also did not performed any simple tests - the answer was nearby to you the whole time.

And finally - the TVIX has it's own forum, and they know better ....
