Any free tool for batch conversion from VOB/MPG to DV AVI?

I need to convert tons of short MPG files (MPEG2 with AC3 sound from DVD camcorder) into DV AVI. Is there any free tool to do it right in "batch" mode (automatically convert all files into equivalent DV AVIs)? I tried STOIK and it just freezes sad.gif

DVD2AVI is great for than but can't be used for batch conversion

I used ffmpeg and SUPER GUI front end for few conversions with ffmpeg in the past but to get DV out of MPG it is pretty messy to work for SUPER. Is there any frontend GUI where I can configure DV codec or maybe predefined batch files?

Not sure about AC3 sound, but suitable versions of VirtualDub (recent ones with plug-in, not just the very old vdubmodmpeg2 thing) will happily load in MPEG video and write out DV.

Cheers,
David.

Thanks for all replies! I finally made it work with virtualdub 1.9.6+mpeg2 plugin, VDubBatcherII and AC3Filter (after installation, Vdub plays AC3 without problem)...

Avidemux would be another option. It offers job control as well as powerful scripting capabilities.
