The latest builds of MPC-HC lock up when playing a DVD in EVR, and lock up in VMR9 when any GDI shows on the screen (tooltips, context menu, etc). This is with ATI, cat 7.10. The october build works fine.

Well just test the new MPC compilation on Vista RTM up to date with a bunch of H264 anime fansub on my HD. My card is 2400XT with Catalyst 7.12. I wonder if it is because of my card but all SD files don't work and produce a green image. Here's the list:
Code:
Do not work or work but not perfectly
Aria the OVA ~Arietta~ by CrystalNova (if there's no comment then it produces green image from now on)
Bamboo Blade by Huzzah-Doremi
Clannad SD by SS-Eclipse this one also crashes my graphic driver
Clannad with 1024x576 resolution work but with a lot of macro block (changing IDCT doesn't help)
ef - a tale of memories by Conclave-Mendoi
Kekkaishi 1024x576 by Yoroshiku work but skip frames a lot.
Kimi ga Nozumu Eien ~Next Season~ by Bakawolf-m33w
kimikiss by BSS
Kodomo no Jikan by Genjo
Project Blue by Ureshii
Code:
Work perfectly, they're all HD though
Ghost Hound by Genjo
Gundam 00 by Conclave-Mendoi
Minami-ke by Ayako
Moyashimon by BSS
Shakugan no Shana 2 by SS-Eclipse
End of report. I also have a question, I have to choose the correct IDCT in order for it working correctly right? Anyway, great works casimir666, thank you. It's great to see MPC only use 5% CPU max when playing HD anime, nice. If you want samples, I can make some.

I have the green image problem on some HD files too. Could you try with Power DVD and tell me if you have the same problem or not? I don't know if the problem came from the video card or if it's a bug in the bitstream parsing
DXVA should also works on SD files...

[edit]The macroblocking problem will maybe fixed in next release : now the inverse quantisation matrix is read dynamicaly[/edit]

This parameter is for software rendering with Ffmpeg only and not for DXVA. To be honest i haven't play enough with it to tell you if it's important or not

Thank you for you report and happy new year for all.

its scary...
will try it again later.

r353 cant play x264 encoded video, b0rked, same as 1080p h264 video.

And 64-bit builds of the standalone filters would be useful too I think.

Check you have the EVR or EVR custom as renderer, and that "Enable DXVA" checkbox is checked in "MPC Video decoder" property page.

Do not play 1080p video for the moment it will not work : use video with height multiple of 16 (will be fixed in next release).

With "EVR custom" press Ctrl+J will tell you if DXVA is activated or not.

hmm ok, thx for the info, i think its work for me
http://xs323.xs.to/xs323/08012/awayuki.jpg
btw the video playback still abit choppy.

r353 crash with h264 avi file if using internal h264 decoder,
it plays if the video resolution is 800x592, but 720x480 or similar resolution it only show greenish output.

Well, both Nero 8 and Cyberlink do not like EVR custom, freeze on starting over here. As for EVR, because those are mostly x264 encodes I guess, Nero does not work in DXVA mode. With Cyberlink, only Kekkaishi in the list in my previous post works well, the others if HD then it's froze, if not then either it produces a green image or it's froze.

Guess yours is the best DXVA2 AVC decoder for anime encodes right now.

New release with a smoother playback (should be ok with ffmpeg, still somes problems with Dxva). Somes of Thuan files (Kekkaishi) start playing now, but stop after a while (found 3 bugs, but one is remaining).

Do not try VC1 decoder it's not working at all.

now playback is choppy if dxva disabled
r353 is opposite.
btw why the option "inverse h264 quantization matrix" is removed on new build?

video playback still broken if dxva enabled, especially when scene change, a sample will be provided upon request
here are the x264 setting i use during transcoding: (info extract from video file.)

Because the inverse matrix is inside the bitstream (i discover it today )

Pardon my ignorance but where is that MPC built in h264 decoder coming from? I was not aware that there's any open source h264 decoder which can do hardware acceleration?

Going by the changelog I'd say Casimir666 implemented it himself...
