AR support in standalones
Hi,
my Nortek NDVX 100 player (based on ESS Vibrato1 chipset) doesn't really understand AR settings, whatever codec and program I use: it shows black video and no audio. Did anyone get to play such videos with a different player? Thanks. Last edited by unixfs; 31st December 2003 at 23:01. |

You are right, i made a little test:
Changing Pixel Aspect ratio: elta 8883 (MediaTek): ignored Yamada 6100 (ESS): ignored Setting Picture Aspect Ratio: elta 8883 (MediaTek): ignored Yamada 6100 (ESS): black picture, no sound Would be nice to have support for these features, i could encode my dvb capture without resizing and i encode a lot anamorphic, but as they do not even read the ar settings of mpeg files... I changed it in the Xvid configuration to 16:9 PAL, i was trying to make an anamorphic encode.
I would say both players are equal in quality, i cant see a difference on my tv, but im not that quality freak... Some people say the MediaTek chip uses some postprocessing, but i cannot see this with my elta. Only reason why i bought the elta were the neverending problems with resizing and aspect ratio with the Yamada. |
