I believe the Kodak set actually predates the creation of sRGB. However, as far as being 'representative' goes, colorspace might be the least of our concerns, considering that a third of the set has artificial frames and overlays.
The set seems to still be in full use for compression and image research, though, so I wasn't about to argue with tradition
and my own concerns were settled with the inclusion of the 8 two megapixels XR images.
