Thats what I do, just use plain vanilla MSYS2 for the shell, and my own
compiler package extracted somewhere in PATH, and stuff just works like it did before with MSYS1. Native 32-bit compilers and 64-bit "cross" compilers (not really cross compilers, but they have the prefix).
Stuff like MABS is just way too annoying to handle.
