CoreAVC was the best decoder during it's time, it's too bad they stopped development because I could run 1080p video on my old Pentium 4 system whereas libavcodec would cripple the system.
Not that any of that matters now on my current rig, but just curious if anything new came out to replace CoreAVC during this time.

Until last year, I was using the H.264 decoder from DivX. I switched to LAV Video when I found that
1) there are some clips which the DivX filter failed to decompress properly, and
2) the H.264 decoder from ffmpeg/libav finally became as fast as the payware H.264 decompressors
