I could have used such a feature in the past.
One reason is to use larger than 9GB files, since again the DVD specs restricts to 9 the number of VOB files in a title.
How can one come to DVDs larger than 9GB? Simply by combining two discs containing two parts of a movie, in order to "shrink" the results in a DVD9 size. Doing them separately is suboptimal

MPG does not have all the features VOB has.
