Just checking it does seem to be the case that they are VC1 / VC1. I was thrown by The Thing, which is also VC1 / VC1. However checking it was just over bd-25 and the main movie wasn't re-encoded. Therefore the only one which is okay is Harry Potter which was AVC / AVC.

I've just done Animal House (a Universal title) to bd-9. Again suffering from glitches / blocks but I wouldn't say any worse than a bd-25 disc.

Just for clarification, are you also seeing the glitches in the main video? On some discs I'm even seeing glitches in the menus - on my bd-9 version of Animal House I see lots of blocks on the Universal planet sequence at the start, then on the language selection page and then the 'blu-ray disc' menu leading up to the main selection.
