I think I found some answers to this question in
this post from Didee and perhaps a bit more in
this one. As I understand it, it seems that ReduceFlicker/Clense are used to combat the bob shimmer that is seen in basically every bobber (except TGMC) so that srestore has as clean a detection clip as possible to pick out the correct frames.
