@molitar: I was suggesting some sort of separate AviSynth filter that changes the brightness/contrast/gamma. I'm sure there are plenty. The problem is, you'd have to use something else to figure out the values, then put them in.
@Egh: SubRip uses AviSynth and avifil32.dll, and does not care what's underneath (sometimes it's DirectX, sometimes it's not). It only gets the frames it needs and does processing on them. I guess some simple brightness/contrast/gamma sliders wouldn't be too bad to implement, I just don't have the time these days.
