It's the same thing I noticed.

I have also tried to demux just using DVD2AVI, trying to keep bad frames (both audio and video), but on long streams I get a very bad desynch (at the beginning all is OK, at the end there's audio very late).

Sometimes bad frames crashes MPEG2DEC3 so another chance is using Nic's MPEGDECODER that handles a little bit better broken streams.

Instead DS.JAR drops only very very bad frames, and corrects as better as it can.
