Good. So 'LameXP.exe' eating too much CPU time is
not the problem

That message is normal on pre-Win7 systems. Nothing to worry about.
(The debug console is shown for all Beta versions)

Did you check the "Command line" for 'tool_lame(enc).exe' for both versions? You find it by right-click and
Properties in the ProcessExplorer.
