I initially thought I had a bug with BeSweet, but it turned out to be a SoundBlaster issue. Apparently with some of the newest drivers you can have a spontaneous loss of surround sound. In my case I dropped I lost Center and Rear but kept L/R. This made me think that BeSweet was encoding dialog incorrectly so I attempted (for days) to raise the dialog volume level.

So, in short, if you're having dialog volume problems check all your speaker outputs for sound. Even if your card is reporting 5.1(or whatever your setup)!

I'm just throwing this out there to prevent DSP any headaches related to this issue.

DSPGuru...Thanks for your efforts! BeSweet is awesome!(but you already knew that right??)
