No have not gotten around to buy the filters yet so cannot try it myself at the moment. But if you take the original 24 bit PCM file that you got from the decode and then open it in a HEX editor you should be able to figure out if one third of the bits contains zeros (8bit, 8bit, 8bit, 8bit, 8bit, 8bit, 8bit, 8bit...). In an hex editor "00" probably represents 8bit with just zeros.
