Hey that's great! A very smart idea...
What you're doing is writing it as a single track... in fact a mixed M2F1/M2F2 track. We concluded this was possible as long as you linked to the files separately... and it really works!
I did my tests a while ago, and I was able to burn it successfully with Nero. Steps:
1. Choose File/Burn image
2. Click on All files (*.*) and load mcf_image.bin file
3. Select Mode2
4. Burn!
It works nicely... althought this is not The Real Thing(TM) it works fine. I guess you can use any recording software that can deal with raw BIN images.
Oh a quick note, you don't need extra CRC checking, Windows already checks the EDC data, so you won't get unnoticed read errors. I really think this is THE way for MCF-CD, since it simplifies many things.
