This must have been asked before, but I couldn't find much info about it.
I'm trying to make a DVD from a few avi's using The Filmmachine (first tested it with a single small file). I have no experience with this, but the conversion seems to be very slow. CCE reaches something between 0.5 and 0.8 speed. With HCEncoder (using "best") the whole process (4 avi's, a little under 4 hours in all) would have taken something like 13 hours.
Is that normal for a Pentium 4 2.8 512 MB ram, with all other programs closed?
Apart from that, after recently moving from a P3 to this P4 I'm not impressed at all. Ah well, at least the room is nice and warm now when the PC is running. :(
